Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

My employer is offering me Groupe Mutuel as a health insurance provider. My contribution would be 10% of the premium for me, spouse and children. Sounds like a decent deal, but I would like to hear your experience first.

Re: Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

Depending on where you live, they're not bad at all. Kind of cheap and cheerful I would say. Their complementary is not too expensive and you get a bit of everything. They're not the best but they're not the most expensive either.

I would say that depending on which complementary he's offering, they are definitely NOT the best for transport (ambulance, helicopter) cover. (Only covering up to a maximum of 5,000.- p.a. with the Global for example). If the rest seems good to you go for it but you might want to think about taking out a Rega insurance to cover this.

If you're employer is offering to pay 90% of your premium then go for it!

There are several companies in the Group Mutuel organisation. If you go to the Comparis site you will see they have a rating of 4.6 = satisfactory.

Re: Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

I'm with Group Mutuel / Hermes & must say that they are excellent. Localised service, they have an office in most Kantonal capitals & very quick to turn around issues.
I was in hospital over Xmas -New year during my changeover of krankenkasse & they did everything seamlessly for us.
Please note this is Allgemeine insurance, you will require supplementary to half or full private.
Sounds as though your employer are pro-active, so you will probably find that your accident insurance will also cover any foreign travel as well, we have this via my employer with AIG Europe.

hope that helps

Re: Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

I wont recommend Groupe Mutuel . I have to move the Basic insurance to Sanitas even though the supplementary part stayed with GM for 5 years. Hard decision but i was totally fed up with the service.
The service of Sanitas is 10 times better than GM.

Been in Switzerland 3 years now

Always been with Groupe Mutuel - no complaints so far (but maybe that is because I rarely have to send them bills).

Re: Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

Was with Hermes in the GM group from 99-05 had to leave the country to get out of my 5 yr notice period on semi private cover.

However including dental it was a good deal as I had completed 2 years of orthodontic treatment before coming here.

Re: Your experience with Groupe Mutuel health insurance?

The Groupe Mutuel are not an insurance company. They are a group of 14 different companies : Avenir, Hermes, Philos, CM Troistorrents, Mutuel Assurances, Easy Sana etc. They are based in Martigny, Valais.

Don't forget that to get out of the GM you need to give them 6 months notice and you have to stay with them for 5 years!
