Information just released by her family. She had been drinking but it is not yet known if this caused her death. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-14635384 |

Although the statement said 'illegal drugs' were not used, it made no mention of whether prescription drugs were involved or not.

But for the sake of argument, let's say the inquest was honest and there WERE no drugs in her system. I can easily believe that the drugs she took weakened her heart or immune system so that she died of the SECONDARY effects of the drugs she took for many years.

Her family claims it's from alcohol withdrawl due to stopping too quickly, which is possible. I've heard of former heavy drinkers going as far as having seizures (subsequently falling down and splitting his head open) due to quitting cold turkey.

Well I honestly do not think the parents can actually believe they would be fooling anyone if they are hiding the truth, which is sad.
They are planning on creating a rehab center, which I find ridiculous as they failed to even place her daughter in one, they have 0 credibility. So if now they are indeed hiding the truth...really?

It is rather like watching someone in a car driving at speed towards a brick wall , hitting it, and the inquest stating that they were not speeding.
Well I guess not, but it is missing the point rather, isn't it?

Although I agree with this, it is a popular step (whether fundamentally correct or not) for celebrities just take on certain causes only after the issues has had it's affect on them. Many good steps like this (will see how this Winehouse thing goes) only gain momentum when it effects someone in the spotlight who only because of the outcome, has made it their martyristic duty. aka livestrong.

If 'illegal' drugs are prescribed by a Dr they are legal, many people receive their fix legally.

They are not a legal authority, or a coroner. They can say what they like.
FWIW, I believe them.

Anyways, after deciding to put out a statement they are putting themselves under public scrutiny too, so it was their choice.

Personally, I don't see why the family would lie about drugs being in her system. They have never denied she had major problems with alcohol and drugs. Plus, she was found dead. There will be an inquest and the results of the post-mortem will be made public. Why lie now and then be exposed at the inquest?
I believe that drugs probably contributed to her early death. All the family are saying that none were found in here at the time. I'm sure if they had said nothing they would be accused of hiding the facts.

And in all honesty why would they lie, her family want to set up a drug rehabilitation centre in her name.
