| | | Squaring up in the Med...
...time for a showdown.
My money is on the Turks. Turkey- Size 48,600 personnel
- 10 Submarines
- 75 aircraft
- 19 Frigates
- 7 Corvettes
- 108 Fast Attack Craft
Israel- Size 19,500 personnel
- 3 Submarines
- 2 aircraft
- 3 Corvettes
- 11 missile craft
- 41 Patrol boats
As in all modern conflicts, it's about natural resources. Sigh.
"In response to Mr Erdogan's comments, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying:
"This is a statement well-worth not commenting on.""
Innit.

Where are you getting your numbers from?
The aircraft totals might be for crop sprayers, but not for the real world.

(Slightly outdated, and easily researched to see the upgrades to the fleet)
We are talking, Navy, not Air force.
EDIT:
Also, plug the countries into http://www.globalfirepower.com/count...son-detail.asp
Israel (2nd Column) vs Turkey (3rd column)
Total Naval Units 64 265
Merchant Marine Strength 10 645
Major Ports and Terminals 4 8
Aircraft Carriers 0 0
Destroyers 0 0
Frigates 0 19
Submarines 3 16
Patrol Coastal Craft 42 108
Mine Warfare Craft 0 20
Amphibious Operations Craft 0 55
Like I said, my money is on the Turks...

I think you'll have to balance out effective fighting forces rather pure numerics. Anyway, there's too much military history between these nations. Israel updating Turkish F-4 Phantoms, both flying and training with NATO exercises, squadron visits and common foreign foes with Syria, Iran and others.

The Israeli Navy is small, inexperienced and too thin on the ground (Sea??) and will avoid any showdown.
Submarines alone will settle any dispute...

This could be a interesting little show, I´ll get the popcorn.
However my money is on the Israelis
The Turks are all show and no blow, that little ongoing cripple fight they have in Kurdistan tells it all really.
The IDF on the other hand have the scars to show that they can fight, even if the Turks chuck in everything they have don´t forget that israel is under the Protection of the US and that Tel Aviv has a nuke or two and won´t hesitate to use them.

This is all about posturing and sword rattling, the Turks will turn up in force and the Israelis will not repeat the boarding fiasco they got caught up in last time.

The "Israel-Palestine 2" (son of "Israel-Palestine").
If Israel isn't in it, there is no thread.
See for example the "Turkish - Armenian", "Turkish-Cyprus", "Turkish - Greece" non existent threads.

Will your guys go ape-shit again and board the peace flotillas or will you scurry off and avoid a confrontation ?

What people do not realize is in the days of the sea skimming missile warships are going to be a great future dive site and that the eastern med is a closed area, what happens if you send ships in? You get what is called a "target rich enviroment"

Which peace flotillas - the ones carrying expired medicines & used toilets with Jihadis on board ?
Like everyone else, I'll wait and see how this plays out.

Well, I doubt it will amount to much more than a storm in a teacup. Turkey is still pi$$ed at Israel over northern Cyprus. That by the way is an example of how wonderfully effective the Turkish fighting forces have or haven't been in the past.
If it did to come to a pi$$ing contest, my money would not be on the turks.

I think the Turks will have an armed presence on board to deter boarding. I am interested in how the Israelis will react. Not a lot that can be done really, either ignore the aide ships or confront them, I am struggling to find the middle way.
