Re: Iranians attack & enter British Embassy in Tehran
This is getting interesting, sabre rattling all round. According to the Guardian, the Iranian ambassador is being recalled and will be replaced by a chargé d'affaire.

No more Ferrero Roche then.
Are there any CIA conspiracy theories going round yet suggesting this was a put-up job?

I do love English & American manipulation under the guise of 'diplomacy' - they continue to push Iran into a corner in the world's most transparent effort to pull another Iraq...and then suddenly there's surprise etc. when Iran responds
We've got dangers in this world but they all emanate from DC & 10 Downing

The Iranian government objects to being snubbed by British banks, (Under UK government sanctions) as a punishment for continuing to access nuclear bomb making technology.

I would hope this invasion is a good excuse to bomb their atomic facilities.
the nuclear facilities are not in a central location but widely spread around that country. And that country is NOT without defences. And might retaliate by blocking the Straights of Hormuz. One or two tankers downed there would block it for quite a while. Difficult to forecast to what level the price per litre petrol will rise in such a case. CHF 5.95 or 15.95 ?

Regardless of the reason(s) for the attack, the Iranian gov't has a responsibility to protect ALL embassies in their country. This is one more example of the current Iranian gov't showing that it has no respect for int'l law.

It seems most countries have examples where they don't have respect for international law.
Shall we start with water-boarding and other torture and end with this in today's news along with the embassy story:
Quote:
The US and Somalia are the only two countries not to have ratified a UN convention that bans life in jail without parole for under-18 year olds.
Personally, I have more respect for a protest where a car and a few papers got burnt.
There was a hell of a lot more damage and more people got hurt during the U.K. riots.

Call me callous, but if a 16-17 year old is capable of committing pre-meditated murder, then they are capable of spending life in prison. Each case must be judged on its merits however, and according to the report, the US is reviewing these cases as we speak. I'd wager a bob or two that the same cannot be said for Somalia.

Re: Iranians attack & enter British Embassy in Tehran
I woldn´t worry too much about it Slammer spent six weeks in Tehran and demonstrating outside the British embassy was just a fun way to spend the Friday (Islamic Sunday) afternoon.
People would chant the usual stuff: "Death to England, death to the queen" etc. Vendors would sell kebabs. children would have fun and I found it to be just a way for people to let off steam.
I did not feel threatened and was even invited for a shake of fist and a vigorous chant "Tass Kaff, tass kaff" (You need to be a fan of Brösels Werner to understand that).
No harm and afterwards the crowd would wave green flags and march through Tehran, I would go into the embassy, show my passport, pay a few dollars for a coupon and check them in at the bar. There was also a good library if I remember.
Seems like the usual stuff just got a bit out of hand like the kerfuffle at the American embassy jonks back.
That is now a very interesting museum open to the public.
