Sea France goes into administration

Seafrance the French ferry company has gone into administration. Any one booked on them to go back to the UK in the next few days. http://www.seafrance.com/cs/sf_resou...eCrisis_en.jsp

Any one at the port? Are P&O taking Seafrance reservations?

After a recommendation from an EF member, I have booked Norfolk line, from Dunkirque to Dover, for my April visit, very cheap thank you!

Reported on the BBC today:

Quote:
Ferry firm SeaFrance is to shed 127 jobs in Dover after it was liquidated by a French court and told to cease activity.

I understood the company was going to continue after a management buy out.

Look at www.seafrance.com also BBC news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16475667 Looks like the 16th November was from a previous action and they just did that to get something up on their website. P&O Ferries on a ticker are saying they have ample space, but I guess it is going to cost. Sorry I didn't rearlise the Dover / Calais service was suspended in November, out of touch with the UK. http://www.poferries.com/

We used them a lot when we lived in Belgian and were always very happy with them. The crossing is slightly longer but the prices are very good and the boats were much nicer than any of the P&O ones we went on.

Seafrance was our second choice but that's not an option any more.

Re: Sea France goes into administration

As someone who crosses the channel quite frequently, don't know if you are aware that the good old Norfolk Line has been taken over by DFDS, so don't get confused looking for Norfolk Line signs at Dunkirque most are now DFDS.

Re: Sea France goes into administration

We booked with Sea France ages ago to go back to the UK for the Xmas hols. We only found out they had gone into administration a short time before we were due to travel (they informed us by e-mail). We phoned the number they gave us, and we were easily booked onto a DFDS ferry from Dunkerque to Dover instead (which was cheaper than our original Calais to Dover crossing with Sea France, so they refunded the difference).
Coming back last week, even though we were supposed to be on a DFDS ferry, due to the back log (after Dover was closed cos of the weather conditions), they actually put us on an LD Lines ferry instead.
