My husband's gastroenterologist told us that age-based screening in Switzerland (at least Bern) is not the norm, and most people only go when they develop symptoms. Might be different in Zurich.
The prep does affect some people for a few days to a couple of weeks afterward. Having said that, it is well worth the inconvenience. It's just that you may feel crappy for a week or so after. It's not a reason to avoid it.
