rare someone goes clubbing with a concealed carry I would say?

IIRC, all states have laws where you may not legally CC if under the influence. Some states also make it illegal to CC in bars and restaurants that serve alcohol.

Paris demonstrated, again, how even with the required intelligence to prevent an attack organizations failed to respond ahead of it happening. If you allow the public to act as your security you may end up with "ruck-sack wearing middle easterns" being shot because they "looked like they were going to blow the place up".
...
Now I know such logic exists in Flori-duh - but its Flori-duh - which produces more stories of human stupidity than any other of the 45 states combined.
....

Or planes emergency landing because someone was reading mathematics papers, or kids bringing clocks into school.

As to Florida, Do you really think they produce more stupidity, or is it just better covered by the news, or does the high percentage of Canadians there in the winter months play a role?

SSD: Seasonal Stupidity Disorder.

I think the average IQ probably goes up in winter, to be fair.

A difficult one for the left. Left love Muslims. Left love Gays. Muslims hate Gays.
My gay Muslim friends probably wouldn't agree with you. Hmmm....

A quick question for the Americans here...

If someone has been interviewed three times by the FBI regarding his terrorist sympathiser views, and is the no fly list, how is he still able to by a semi-automatic weapon two weeks ago?

Is there really nothing in place to prevent such a person having access to firearms? Can't let him fly, but he can have all the guns he wants.

I find that disturbing.

People like him have always existed in one guise or another. One friend said "Daesh is the new punk" and he has a point. Disenfranchised people, rage against the system, undiagnosed mental issues, a form of rebellion, etc... I really don't want to rehash all the debates from post-9/11, post 7/7, etc...

As opposed to a pressure cooker and some explosives? Why was he free to roam about the cabin?

This is not a gun issue. I find it hard to understand why the EF doesn't see it this morning.

I'm not alone.

It is also a primary reason Trump is so popular with a large swath of white males in America. But that is for another thread.

I find it hard to understand why you cannot see this as a gun issue.

I'm not alone.

EF is not a U.S. Republican mouthpiece - it's a community website in Switzerland, Europe.

Perhaps you'll find more people with your point of view on an NRA forum?

Which leads to the question, do you disarm a population and have a scenario like in Paris...
Correct me if I've misinterpreted you, but are you saying that the Paris "scenario" occurred because the good people of Paris were not legally permitted to arm themselves for self-defence, and that, had they been armed, they would have been able to defend themselves and many lives would have been saved?

By contrast, in the US, people may buy arms freely and therefore defend themselves and others against maniacal armed murderers, so your rationale goes. So explain 50 people killed by one armed assailant in Florida, one of the least restrictive states in the USA when it comes to gun control laws.

I may be seeing this a bit simplistically, but how can any event which results in 50 deaths from gunshot wounds NOT be regarded as at least partially a gun issue?

I don't think it is primarily a religious or ISIS issue, although that is what it will be regarded as.

And I agree with you about Trump.

paris:
strict gun law. islamic terrorists. assault rifles. no self defense (soft target, filled with probably anti-gun people even under loose gun law)

orlando:
loose gun law. islamic terrorists. assault rifle. no self defense (soft target, filled with apparently anti-gun people)

or would you maintain that the group of people that loves guns and the group of people that frequent gay clubs undoubtedly overlap?

so, assault rifles regardless of gun law. both soft targets. both islamic terrorists.

EF response: wtf america gun laws!!!1
normal response: do something about soft targets and/or islamic terrorists

Shot up, blown up, by a fairly large group who had been planning for a while.

Compared to a wacko on his own.

(Yes, both are wackos)

I do not think it is a gun issue.

Trump's popularity to me seems exponentially growing with growing refusal of intersectionality and cultural marxism. I think it is logical.

How the incident gets reported is symptomatic.
