was mentioned briefly on the bbc news yesterday but today its on all uk news channels.

I'm amazed that anybody is amazed

Its an absolute disgrace that this is being aired now, it should have been done long ago when he was alive to defend himself or be punished and I believe it would have been punished.

If there was a cover up then I hope those responsible are jailed for a long long time.


I always hated him anyway, he never fixed it for me when I wanted to fly in a harrier jump jet!

He would also have been alive to have his lawyers stamp on it without needing to defend himself. No evidence, one person's word against another. According to this/this, he sued The Sun in 2008. Previous complaint did not provide enough evidence to press charges.

Funnily enough - my brother was on Jimmy Saville`s radio show a few years ago, well it was actually QUITE a few years ago now I come to think about it. My bro said to my `Yeh, great bloke - but surprisingly swear like a trooper`
It was just after my brother embarked on his ultra-running phase and began by running from John O`Groats (NE Scotland) to Land`s End (SW England).
So JS had him on the show to interview him about his experience.
Anyway, after the show, JS aksed him if he had any further plans for ultra events.
My bro said that actually he and a work colleague were planning to ride from John O`Groats to London on bikes, for charity. Only thing was - he didn`t have a bike. So JS said `You daft c**t, you can borrow one of my f**3ing bikes!`
I remember my bro telling me that and we pi**ed ourselves about it.
At the time my bro was worked at a national newspaper that was still located in Fleet street central London.
JS said `Tell you what, I will come and meet you at the finish`.
When the 2 riders arrived back in London, JS had been contacted several days before and agreed to be ourside the newspaper office, alongside with all my bro`s work colleagues.
When they turned into Fleet street - couple of hundred people waiting . . but no JS. Brother`s boss said, can you ride around the block - JS has been delayed?`
Once around the block they went and turned again triumphantly into Fleet street . . . . still no JS. `Can you go around the block again?`
So 3 more times around the block and eventually the man was there, having beedn delayed at another charity event - and everyone tried to cheer as though they had just arrived.
All was well in the end then - I guess Jimmy Saville was one of those larger than life characters. It`s certainly a shame that his legacy will be marred by this new scandal. As someone else said - it would have been better coming out when he was alive, so that he could face the charges and consequences or at least defend them.

Esther Rantzen also refused to believe the allegations against him, but then she saw a pre-screen of the documentary and now she's convinced.
She's someone I would trust for an opinion.

I know that it's easy to say in retrospect, but I never liked watching him on TV, he always made me feel uncomfortable.
If all this is true, it is a great pity that it didn't come out during his lifetime.

Thank you Reb77Br, the news is shocking, and now that the accusations are flying about, I have to agree with the BBC, if there was no more evidence than individual claims then they can't do much about it. There is also the possibility of an "imagined assault" phenomenon, many young people when meeting famous people become "psychologically unstable", and JS met many, many people.

I suppose he might have been cunning enough to assault the girls when he was alone with them, but when you see that a simple programme has dozens of people working on the set, then it is difficult to imagine him leaving with a minor, and nobody noticing him leaving.

Until proven otherwise, I will try and think of him as innocent, but I never liked him.

Two witnesses of two separate events:
If the victim and witness statements are not sufficient evidence for a prosecution, then it presumably amounts to libel, and could therefore have been suppressed before he died.

In the article on the Guardian site, one of the women who have come forward said that she walked into Saville's room to find Gary Glitter in a compromising situation with an underage girl.

Now that is one connection that is almost incriminating on it's own! Bloody Gary Glitter!

I guess Jim "fixed it" for a bunch of young girls. Leading to a life of trauma and shame. Damn those that covered up for him and any other peds because of their celebrity status.

Abusing those who cannot defend themselves is a coward's game, no substitute for forming a normal human relationship.

Looks like Jimmy is in trouble, he could go down for this...............

In Scarborough his relatives are going to remove the very large head stone at his grave.

I am shocked that nobody that saw him abusing the youngsters reported him. Many victims have come forward now, and the average is one teenage girl every year since 1959. The police spokesman on TV tonight called him a sexual predator.

there was a quote from n ex bbc worker on the news today that she walked into a dressing room and a 4 year old was on his lap and he had his tongue down her throat

i would say the relatives are removing the ehad stone before it gets smashed to pieces (surprised it isnt already)
