That would be a little cruel, wouldn't it? I rather hope that the nurse who was dumb enough to give out info on the phone was not dumb enough to "end it all"

the radio website has been taken down and the facebook page has some interesting comments.... i detect trouble ahead.

She was a nurse who answered the phone because reception wasn't open, but she passed the call on to a colleague, she wasn't the one answering questions.

She was married with two children, who are now motherless. The Australian radio hosts who did the 'prank' as they put it, should be shot.

I don't think you can hold them responsible, bullying is different but making a joke is not the same thing. There must have been other reasons.

Must say I find it disturbing that some here on EF think the suicide of a mother with young children left behind - is just another opportunity for sick jokes. Beggars belief really. Shame on you.

No I would disagree. That Kate was in that hospital was global news, that the woman in question forwarded the call so was the breach in security was global news. The pressure of the worlds headlights on you must have been intolerable. What riles me is people putting this kind of thing down as a harmless prank, because In Their eyes it is but they don't consider their victim one jot. Perhaps if someone attacked one of those dj's parents leaving them in a coma as, y'know, just a bit of a larf, they might understand that experiences differ depending on which end of the 'joke' you are at.

I agree not all jokes are funny but I'm putting it in perspective. She was not responsible for a security breach, she put a telephone call through to her colleague. The hospital say there was no problem, no disciplinary worries etc over this. I'm sure she felt bad about it, but I think there must be another reason for her suicide. You and me arguing over a joke doesn't help her kids.

It seems she had some personal unresolved issues---as is commonly the case with suicide victims.

I see 2 personal situations: 1. she had suicidal feeling before, and this prank was just the tick before she lost it.
or
2. she was emotionally unable to deal with the issues that the joke produced.

Eitherway in hind sight it would have been ideal that she had gotten help with herself before it got out of hand. If not for herself, at least as a mother for the children she abandoned.
