| | | Pope Benedict in shock resignation
The Pope is to resign at the end of this month in an entirely unexpected development, the Vatican has confirmed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-21411304 | | The following 2 users would like to thank cdcdoc for this useful post: | |

Good decision.
Nobody should be forced to work so hard at such an age.
I'm always amazed how quickly they age though, them popes.
Must be a very tough job.
I hope the next pope will be young and fun.

I'm not Christian but your flippant comment seems a bit out of place for an 85 year old man.

As far as Im concerned the pope failed the victims of abuse (in Ireland ) he had a chance to build bridges but nope!

I suppose his ability to hold down the choirboys is somewhat diminished at 85.

I would love to have seen the look on his bosses face when she got the resignation.

Oooohhhh....a love conspiracy theories and idle speculation. I'll get the ball rolling.... - Vatican owns 100% of Findus
- UBS and Pope in insider trading scandal
- Pope photographed enjoying a cigarette and Red Bull with the Swiss Guard

HE did meet with some of the victims abused by priests.... he deserves some credit ...
BUT
When he was cardinal he did approve the transfer of one man after accusations of that guy abusing children.. which apparently he was "not aware of"..

But hey non of my business I just didn't think he was that unpopular. As for the victims it's tragic so I'm not even gonna comment on that. I struggle to see what anyone on earth can do though to make things any better.
