US: just that little bit more crazy

Crazy, but I guess they just have not thought the whole concept through.

Re: US: just that little bit more crazy

And there are almost 16 millions college students in America, so their numbers are 0.1% of the US college student population. That's less supporters than the NRA.

Maybe every time something f--ked is occurring in Australia I should post it on the forum with the title: Australia: just that little bit more crazy.

Re: US: just that little bit more crazy

This is my personal favourite:

The Virginia Tech shootings clearly showed that a deranged gunman can do a great deal of damage in just the few minutes it takes campus police to arrive on the scene.

Read: person on campus with a gun caused lots of damage.

Answer: Let all people on campus have a gun therefore increasing the risk of causing damage, but at the same time, being able to stop the increased damage being caused quickly by letting other students with guns shoot at the original student with a gun.

I love their logic.

Re: US: just that little bit more crazy

Having some crazy American conservative friends, i have heard this argument a few too many times. But the argument is usually more along the lines of not knowing that people are holding being a detterrent to the person actually doing it. Not sure that this works in the situation of a suicidal shooter.

Right, I forgot, the US is the only country where it isn't a utopia. And I didn't say stupid, I said f--ked.

But again, if you'd notice their numbers are 0.1% of the college student population. Doesn't seem very popular now does it? Just because you can find something on the internet doesn't mean that it has the support of a majority of the people or is even remotely popular.

But you should be proud to hold the world's stabbing capital

Why do you suggest I should be proud of that? Was that supposed to be sarcastic?

ps. even if it is only 0.1%, it was enough to make the local news.

Can you tell me how 23,000 students divided by 16,000,000 students doesn't equal 0.1%?

So, it was in the news. There are all sorts of things that really aren't important enough to be in the news even though they are. And there are all sorts of things that really are important enough to be in the news that aren't. Shouldn't we know better than to let the media tell us what is and isn't important?

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...30-421,00.html

STABBINGS in Central Australia's tourist capital have reached epidemic proportions, and traditional Aboriginal thigh spearing is being blamed.

But how can you have the quintessential outback experience without a traditional thigh spearing? It just wouldn't be the same!

cheers,
(Mr)Wibble

Re: US: just that little bit more crazy

I did see an account of a crazy Australia story, but it may have been Tasmania, does that count ? In the area surrounding a famous prison, a group of the prisoners escaped, and slowly died from starvation except for one who survived by eating his comrades. He was eventually recaptured, but they didn't believe his story until he attacked and ate another inmate...

Only in Australia..eh ?

That happened about 200 years ago, in a little place called Port Arthur.

And by the way are you try to get me upset
Tasmania is part of Australia, I was born there.

Not quite Australia, but at least the right hemisphere...

A New Zealand man who claimed he was raped by a wombat and that the experience left him speaking with an Australian accent has been found guilty of wasting police time.
