What does Sharia law have yo do with it? It's not a part of the UK judicial system in any way.
Sure about that...? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/reli...al-chiefs.html

I was expecting this link to be some fluff about sharia courts held in people's bedrooms but I'm actually truly shocked by this

Ok maybe I phrased that wrongly .
Sharia law is not part of the UK judicial system when it comes to criminal law in any official way. I don't think the systematic abuse of presumably none Muslim children falls under the Sharia inheritance laws ( which in themselves are shocking) so sharia law is not really relevant here.

I don't think Sharia law was the dual judiciary system that musikchick was alluding to in her post in any case..

Sharia doesn't have a criminal section. It is all about disputes. The Ombudsman system is essentially Sharia: first brought to Europe by a Swedish King after a long holiday and lots of soapy baths in Turkey.

Disappointed. I was hoping the penalty for these criminals would be castration.... with a butter knife.

So as I said totally irrelevant to this investigation.

now the only explicable excuse they can manage to muster is 'we didn't want to offend minorities'
Which in itself is beneath contempt.

If one looks at the behaviour of the police in England over the last half a century or so, offending minorities was never a major cause of losing sleep to them.

There is certainly something rotten at the heart of Rotherham and a number of British cities.

All said and done, what will they do about this now? Surely this kind of thing doesn't stop overnight, nor victims and perpetrators disappear overnight. Couldn't they set up an operation, and intervene right away before anything worse happens? Lives of past victims may be in danger otherwise.

Those in charge had been briefed numerous times on this issue, but chose to ignore the findings and now the only explicable excuse they can manage to muster is 'we didn't want to offend minorities'
The horse's mouth:

A former Labour MP for Rotherham has admitted that he held back from confronting the problem of Asian groups sexually exploiting young girls because he is a “Guardian-reading liberal leftie”.

There are three sentences. I agree with all of them that's why I said exactly, spot on.
