Air Asia Flight QZ8501 missing

Apparently, another plane has gone missing.

Air Asia flight QZ8501 departed from Surabaya bound for Singapore, went missing with 155 passengers and crew on board. Let's hope this will not turn out to be anything remotely similar and sinister as the MH incidents.

Possibly. The pilot requested an alternative route because of bad weather conditions right before its disappearance.

Bermuda Triangle was moved to the Southeast Asia? Let's blame Putin for it as always.

There have been some reports that the plane was located near Belitung Island. No official confirmation yet... Hope the people onboard will make it.

Re: Air Asia Flight QZ8501 missing

The plane was on its way from Surabaya (capital city of East Java province) to Singapore.
The captain is an ex military pilot and have more that 20K flight hours logged.
It is reported that he asked control tower to take another route since there is severe weather ahead, before it went missing from Jakarta radar.
News said that it falls down 80 miles from Belitung island. But i do hope it was a ditch though...

Naah, I think we'll just stick to blaming Putin for the one in east Ukraine.

Now back to the original topic... at least there is chance the wreck will be found to give some closure to the families of the missing ones. I do hope they find out what caused the crash though - surely just some bad weather should not be enough to get a modern plane to go down.

If its going to be a sea landing a life vest is a waste of time anyway.

But it indicates that whatever happened was quite sudden or crew didn't give the life vest instruction.

Re: Air Asia Flight QZ8501 missing

Serious question - honestly - don't mean it to be completely insensitive.

What happens to people's clothes in a plane crash??

The current footage from QZ8501 shows a body in the water apparently just wearing underpants.

Footage from the shot down MH17 showed many almost naked bodies and a recent documentary on the BBC about Lockerbie interviewed local people who described naked bodies strewn across fields.

PanAM and MH17 i could imagine a mid air explosion could shred clothes to an extent but even then, could it cleanly remove them? And air Asia, would imagine that hit the water complete?
