What? Smoking is bad for your health, be it cigarettes, pipes, or cigars. Where did I say otherwise? My personal feelings towards the smell of pipe tobacco certainly don't make it any healthier...the manner of smoking (inhaling or not) and frequency (cigarette smokers generally smoke far more than pipe/cigar smokers) has a health impact of course...
You and your friend Tom imply that:
- smoking cigarette = pure addiction to something disgusting, done by desperate irresponsible junkies who spend their money on drugs instead of shiny shoes
- smoking cigar = gentlemen refinement, in front of the fireplace, when the missus washes the dishes.

This is pure BS.

Most of the smokers I know (and I used to be one) did not hide in the toilets to get their fix, nor lit a cigarette immediately as they got off the train; and even if they did, so what? Some go on their smartphone see if they can find a hottie on tinder, why not light a cigarette instead?

And to respond to another post a bit higher, if you go to Zurich HB in the morning, you can see some of these gentlemen in 3-pieces suits polluting everyone's air with the pungent smoke of their cigars and pipes. But I get it now. They are not the problem, because they enjoy it, whereas the cigarettes smokers are just some addicted scum.

Where did I write, or even imply that?

Please quote. If you know how.

I don't smoke
That was my point earlier in the thread.

None of the people on here moaning about not being able to smoke anywhere (yes, St2lemans, I know you're particularly special...) don't actually smoke*

A lot of the smokers I know would actually prefer that the rules were stricter - less temptation, easier to quit etc etc.

*As I said, these people are Guardian-reading do-gooders who really ought to mind their own business.

What a load of BS.

So I'd have to smoke to be allowed to say that no, I don't think it should be banned to smoke outdoors, or in one's private property?
I can't express what I think because I don't smoke? So if I follow your logic I can't give an opinion on Swiss politics because I am not Swiss? And I can't support freedom because I live in a free country?

And if I dared expressing myself on these subjects I would be a "Guardian-reading do-gooders who really ought to mind their own business"?

Well thanks for the brilliant demonstration of the kind of person you are.

Are you speaking on behalf of yourself, or on behalf of smokers?

What about you?

Me and my family.

If people I care about give up smoking then that's good too.
