i really hope someone ends this charade and boots greece out of the euro soon... They are shamelessly trying to shake loose of their debts, destroying their age-old and historical reputation as a cultural centre of the world, and can now be seen as nothing more than a sponge state.

Umm yeah, way to ignore the context of a statement... I was talking purely in political terms.

It is a beautiful country with one of the richest heritages in the known world, but from a repuation perspective they have done more to damage themselves in the last 5 years than in the previous 5000.

Beside the point that the debts of Greece ought to be CANCELLED, they as not being able to Launch a new currency, ought to change to the SWISS FRANK (CHF) which would help BOTH countries out of shit

I think they should adopt the Thai Baht instead. Both Thailand and Greece are tourist centers after all.

Also Switzerland is a tourist Center, with Inbound Tourism being income source nr 2, right after the Export Industry,

Re: Greek elections

So far it does not seem that the Greek PM got much out of his Russian visit. There were concerns that Putin would subsidise Greece but he is down to his last 200 billion so little possibility of finding a 100 billion or more for Greece .

The only concerns where those of the media trying to sell their stories! The Greeks had nothing to offer Putin and he knew it! Any such financing would cause the EU to either suspend Greece or resort to majority voting, either way it would not buy Putin any influence.

Re: Greek elections

Next Greek payment of $750M is due to the IMF on Tuesday; if they fail to pay then they would not be the first country to fail but it would cast doubts about their ability to repay the Bns due later this year

Hopefully we won't pay anything to the IMF.
