If Putin doesn't appear on Wednesday, then something is seriously wrong with him....

http://news.err.ee/v/International/3...f-c80521e10e51
Maybe they will do a Brezhnev on Wednesday?

It was always claimed that Brezhnev died a year before it was announced.
They fixed him up so he looked good from a distance and on suitable occasions trundled him out to a convenient remote balcony for a few minutes.

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

You say Putin stormed to Ticino for birth of his child? In his 60s? When birth is not a news for him as he already have children and relationship with Kabaeva lasts quite long (at least press say so)? I have doubts he is sentimental.

Considering Putin is in his 60's and dating a gymnast in her 30's, back problems are just a matter of time

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

"The local branch of Swiss broadcaster RSI reported that Kabaeva, 31, booked two rooms at the ultra-private clinic, which caters to the rich and famous."

Ultra private clinic?

Caters to the rich and famous?

What are they smoking?

It's a bog-standard hospital, even basic insurance covers stays and treatments there.

...they forgot to say "with a view of the Alps"

To foreigners, everything in Switzerland is hyped-up to be for the "rich and famous". I went to an average doctor in Bern a few years ago for an allergy treatment, and one person in the waiting room was some rich guy from Lybia, he flew in just to be treated by this doctor that I picked out of the Directories because he was closest to me

Now he's officially missing. They originally thought he had the flu.

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

Photo's now appearing of Putin today. He was meeting Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev in St Petersburg.

Clearly the rumours he was having treatment for mental illness were not true as today;
"Mr Putin ordered Russia's navy on to a state of full combat readiness in the Arctic.
Russia says the navy drills involve 56 warships, planes and 38,000 personnel
. "

And in what way does this prove he isn't suffering from a mental illness?

Wasn't it Caligula who ordered the entire Roman army to attack a reed bush on the outskirts of Rome, apparently because Britain was too far away and he wanted an instant victory?

So if any shrubs on the outskirts of Moscow get nuked, you'll know what the matter is.

I am just very happy not to be one of those Russian sailors performing exercises in the Artic in one of those ancient, rusty Russian warships. Just hope none of them sink.

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

There is a darker side though, it seems that Putin was fully prepared to go nuclear in case of western involvement in Ukraine, that can't have gone down very well in the Kremlin, there may have been a palace revolt where Putin has come out tops and now is like the guy with the devil and angel on his shoulder only the angel just got shafted.

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

The "gossip" was fun, but the real learned lesson during Putin's absence was that the power in Russia is central around one man, who reports to nobody except himself. So it's no so much a return to Soviet times, but more a return to Czarist times.
Quote:
The intense guesswork carried at least one clear message, though: how deeply Russia depends on the whims of a single man.
In the absence of any real institutions or alternative structures of authority, power has centralized around Putin more than any leader since the era of Joseph Stalin’s iron-grip rule. Other Soviet leaders were accountable to the Communist Party. One of them, Nikita Khrushchev, was even removed.

Strange you should say that, some years back "Der Spigel" ran a report with the title "Zar Wladimir"

Re: Putin's whereabouts - Ticino?

Earlier Soviet leaders were accountable for communist party. Probably now Russia is taking example from the Western world where President is accountable for those who invested big buck in his election complain. You did not dare to think, that all is done on the money of voters, who counts every cent in everyday life, right?
