Pro-Putin movement launches cartoon weekly to mock West

I don't know about you, but I found it hilarious.

A group of supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday launched a satirical weekly with anti-Western cartoons and verses, calling it an answer to France's "Charlie Hebdo" magazine.

The four-page magazine has large-format cartoons and carries an 18+ certificate.
4 pages qualifies for a "magazine"? I guess it will at least make good toilet paper in the Soviet Union II

Le canard enchaîné also has only 4 pages weekly and it's dynamite. Propaganda is always ridiculous, but this includes both Putin's and yours.

Mhh, what that woman holds has definitely more than 4 pages.

What's the use of handing out an anti-anti-russian-propaganda cartoon in Russia? Shouldn't it rather be spread in western Europe or the USA?

I do understand that the Russian government needs to be active to keep the support of the population over time. Putin is genuinely worried of loosing the massive support he used to have and don't really have to that extent anymore even if he is by no mean rejected massively like the media here try to imply on a regular basis.

Even to very anti-western Russians, a war against Ukrainians is like killing your own family. The western media repeating the US-doxa non-stop is the only alternative they have when they start doubting official Moscow-doxa. It's two lies facing each other and both need to be fed, incl. internally. Both sides do the same because the two sides were created artificially through the Ukrainian events.

The actual Ukrainians only wanted the end of corruption exactly like the Russians wanted the end of corruption by voting Putin after Eltsin. Nobody understands the Ukrainians (all of them) better than the Russians. The political agenda flies far above the heads of the actual people. Hence the absurd situation induced by geopolitics. The propaganda fronts are facing each other, not the actual people. So both sides take the measures to make sure that eventually, the people will face each other too.

Re: Pro-Putin movement launches cartoon weekly to mock West

These quotes are not from the Cartoon Weekly.

"A teenager has been jailed for 15 days and two other women for 10 days after they filmed themselves dancing near a second world war monument in the Russian city of Novorossiysk."

"Intercepted calls showed that the US helped separatists in Russia’s North Caucasus in the 2000s, Russian president Vladimir Putin claimed in a new documentary in which he underscored his suspicions of the west.
The two-hour documentary, to be aired on the state-owned Rossiya-1 TV channel later on Sunday, is dedicated to Putin’s 15 years in office. It focuses on Putin’s achievements as well as challenges to his rule – which the producers and Putin blame on western interference
."

This continued glorification of the Soviet Union and the increased anti-Western propaganda is getting quite serious; Putin seems to be a very worried man

if the magazine is referencing Lennox Lewis (who is pushing 50), it may want to consider an update to its anti-American cultural lexicon.

I think a different definition of page was being used. 8 pages, 4 pages to turn, 2 sheets of paper. We already have the BBC Mock the Week, to mock the West (and everyone else) - so will this be funnier?

Heh, see? That's a difference they'll never acknowledge.
Anyway, I so don't trust government ordered&financed satire ! But the idea made me laugh....Should be replicated in the Middle East too, instead of...other things.

Btw, I'm curious whether they had a real satire weekly before this. I mean, we're in 2015 and they started only now? Back home the most prestigious satire magazine was founded in 1991. Don't know whether Russians had something similar or not. (Charlie Hebdo style)

Satire and humour were in use by the Propaganda machines of Lenin and Stalin

Humour and Satire have a rich Tradition in the Middle East, not not least brought up by Mohammed Hassanein Heikal

Mohamed Hassanein Heikal Heikal, 1966

I know, I was referring to the period after '90. When the morale and morals started to decline...

I found couple of articles on this
