It is speculated (or is it true? cmiiw), that the spratly islands have huge deposit of natural resources. Thats why MY, PH, BI, TW, VN in CN are fighting for it.

I think not long ago, Indonesian public were angry since China also claim Natuna island as their own. I found the news in Indonesian online media. Even the president gave warning to china not to mess with Indonesia ..
