It's crafty, isn't it..I don't know about Cruz. But I think I might prefer him than Trump, if those were my only options. Weird and smart might be better than weird and not smart.
All of my American friends find Cruz a far scarier option that Trump.

Kinda really liking that those that take the real religious high ground on morals here are supporting a racist misogynistic bullshiter for "reasons"

The only reason that joke of a business leader has money is because he was born into money, he has no leadership skills, he's a reality tv star, all his businesses have lost money over just investing in a bank.

Re: Donald Trump and Co

Haha:
Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said the notice is “a standard mailer that folks at the Iowa Republican Party and other get-out-the-vote groups have used to help motivate low-propensity voters,” according to Politico.

That'll teach 'em a lesson. Dammit, voters!
;-)

I can't vote in the US, but from what I can see from here (which might very well be a distorted view of things), all these people look like a bunch of crooks made to look (somewhat) decent.
Some obviously don't even have political ideas of their own, they just babble whatever their advisors tell them to do.
And that's probably what attracts a lot of people to Mr Trump: he's just himself.
He says he doesn't owe anybody anything (not sure if anybody else from the lineup has claimed this for himself - given the way campaigns are financed there these days, I would have serious doubts into such a claim).

With Obama, a lot of people "wanted to believe" - and had to witness that Obama promised one thing - and often ended up doing the opposite. Even after being reelected.
Granted, this isn't the first time it happened - and certainly will not be the last time - but it would be very foolish (even for a politician) to rely on the bad memory of people every single time.
At some point, it will backfire. And it could be that this is what is happening now.

Side node:
There was a little BBC documentary recently (link probably already posted in one if the previous pages) about Trump and they had a guy there (a young Republican) who claimed he'd emigrate if Trump would be elected president.
I found that very amusing in a way. As a reporter, I'd probably have asked if he actually had a passport - and then, if he was aware of the fine print regarding FATCA etc.)
Can you imagine people leaving the country because Hillary or Bernie taking over the nuclear football?

And does anybody seriously think Trump would press the button?
With all the real estate he owns, he's actually a sure ticket this will never happen ;-)

Re: Donald Trump and Co

Hillary is as big a crook as any of them. In terms of competence, one just needs to look at what happened to the Middle East under her tenure as secretary of state. There is no reason to believe the same thing will not happen if she were given broader powers over many other things. I would bet on disasters.

What we are seeing all over the western world is a break down of politics as usual. The ruling elites have lost their grip on reality, and a silent majority has awoken. They don't particularly like what they are seeing, but this is due to the incompetence and corruption of ruling elites. It may take a while for it to come to fruition, but this is bound to happen. It needs to happen for equilibrium.

As for Donald, I see no other candidates with as much audacity. He may even take over traditionally democratic working class voters. We do need a leader willing to lead. It would be unfortunate if it is Donald Trump, but even more unfortunate if a leader is elected who cannot act on real issues, and lies their way through.

What exactly do you hold her responsible for regarding the ME? Can you prove without any shadow of a doubt that she was primarily responsible for anything detrimeneal to the US's interests in the region?

I would be very scared to live in the World as you imagine it to be. Thankfully, you and your views are a minority.

You only need to look at the state of the ME before her tenure, and what happened after. As a leader, this is the measure you judge them against. There are no excuses for those who lead, and lead in the wrong way. They are accountable for their end results.

You are living in such a world, and it isn't my imagination. It is an observation that is echoed by other political and social scientists. It isn't a matter of point of view, as if pretending it is not there will make it go away. It is that self-delusional approach to reality that is quickly losing any credible use. These things are tested by reality, not by ideals, fantasies nor delusions.

Basically, people are not so inclined to buy into bullshit as much anymore, as they realize they are losing the ability to afford it. So you have a rise in the popularity of alternative voices that were previously marginalized by the elites.

Again, prove to me how she was responsible for the state of the ME more that the people and politicians of the region and the Arab Spring? How can you prove one American politician responsible for what has happened in a region not controlled by the US? I fear you're over estimating the power of the role she holds.

I'd love to know who the elites you refer to are...

"I'd love to know who the elites you refer to are" Me too, it is a phrase Phos often uses in different threads but he never bothered to explain.

I assume from his various tirades against people with PhDs in other threads (e.g. see MEI thread; quote "Are you assuming a PhD is worth more than dozens of normal average citizens? ") he means people better qualified than him?
But that is only an assumption; I could be completely wrong.
Maybe he just means people who can afford new shoes or who use paragraphs?

Naughty!

I really don't want to appear rude with this, and it isn't meant as a personal slight against Phos, but it's only this past week that I realised Phos is a man. The reason is, way back when I worked on a US based poltical forum, there was a teenage girl member who wrote in a similar fashion, and I guess I've matched that persona in my head. Sorry!
