Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

Leave it to the British to make a big hoopla about nothing. They will likely send a couple of token sorties, then act like they can't find their targets. I recall them doing just that at the beginning of this. Denmark has done substantially more than the UK in the fight against ISIS. Who really expects the UK to make any substantial contribution to the fight?

As I've said before, a key battlefront is in cyberspace. Much of the radicalisation takes place through the ISIS media outlets and social media where their target are disaffected Western youth. Why do they still have that capability? we could do more to disrupt them and starve them of their oxygen of publicity by systematically taking that down, and for that a multinational cyber-crime agency is needed. Not as sexy as dropping bombs, but as effective IMHO.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

IS achieved their goals then.

I reckon we should be able to snatch a few of their leaders, stick them on trial and lock them up for as long as we can make them live, let the cultists see the end of the world isn't happening and they ain't meeting their makers anytime soon.

Why waste time with bombing - nuking is modern trend

But what do I know. The worst atrocity I have ever committed was photo-bombing my friends and family pics, I must admit!
At least then Trident won't be a complete waste of money.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

In my opinion there's something else which worries Cameron which sends him to these extremes. He doesn't like the thought of the French working at the side of the USA and Britain being left in the lurch. This situation leaves him no option. He has to get on the Band Wagon.

By the way (and this isn't valid for ISIS) if we changed the word(s) terrorist/insurgent for freedom fighter we might have a different outlook on what is being done to the world.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

Have you seen some of the photos of Raqqa? There isn't much left standing around the ISIS HQ.

Leave Syria to those already bombing them, (the Syrian air force, USA, France, Russia) and we should continue bombing ISIS in Iraq.
I read that ISIS are moving their HQ from Raqqa to Mosul.

As you said: they are getting heavily bombed for over a year by now. Didn't exactly work. What makes any leader think that more bombs is going to work?

I thought the definition of an idiot is to repeat the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome...

A multinational cyber-crime agency? Since when has anything like that ever worked?

You really need a grass-roots Muslim upswell against these teachings for it to ever change. Without it, it is not likely to change. Some agency will not accomplish anything close to this.

Ahem, the "moderates" many of us were hoping for.

It already exists as a branch of Interpol, but what I am thinking is a specialist unit that is focused purely on ISIS and not also credit card fraud, phishing scams, child pornography etc.. It probably needs to be staffed by people with additional security clearances but it wouldn't take that much to get it up and running. Where their strengths will lie is in being able to issue emergency take down requests to ISPs and other hosts to eradicate the presence of ISIS on the net.

And then they would have to understand the language, the religion, the cultures, and all the slang term. So are you thinking of staffing it with a hundred thousand people? Who's paying? Would be much simpler to support and encourage an activist counter culture within Muslim communities to combat this, where the problems exist.

In all practicality, the only way to end any war is to bomb the *hit out of a country.
It was done in Japan and ended that war. It was done to Dresden and Berlin and ended that war.
Nowadays its all just talk-talk, promenading for cameras, media hype, political popularity.

Obama has been doing just that, but changing words around have not prevented massacres from occurring.

Except the problem isn't contained in Syria or any other country. It is occurring from China's Xinjang Province, to California, to Europe, to Russia. This resolution to bomb Syria, while its good to know the UK has some sense of where it belongs in the world, is not a good sign they actually see the nature of the problem.

Well, I don't know if Islam will rule. Whatever that is. More like a human civilization acutely inflicted with a bipolar disorder.
