Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

According to Saudis, as a humanist (atheist if you wish) - I am officially a terrorist, apparently. And according to Cameron, as I do not think bombing Syria at the moment and without troops on the ground makes sense- well, I am a terrorist sympathiser. NOT!

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

I suppose this is not about Odile, but about:
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/...st-sympathiser

Cameron is giving Corbyn more credence than he needs to. If he really wanted to, he could have begun military action already. Technically, he still has the prerogative. But I suspect, deep down inside, he doesn't really want to by himself, so tangles around a bit with Corbyn. What can Cameron gain, or Corbyn lose, with such comment?

Looks like a poorly issued comment by Cameron that Corbyn can capitalize on with a little thought. But whether or not Corbyn is smart enough is a different question. Well, he is a terrorist sympathizer afterall.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

Rabble-rousing your own supporters isn't exactly a new tactic.

It's one Corbyn is trying to leave behind, and Cameron occassionally slips into.

The press on each side inevitably jump on it, from opposing viewpoints, while the majority of moderate people wish both sides would grow up.

So Cameron just served up a free opportunity for Corbyn to appear like the wiser, elder statesman.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

Corbyn is a terrorist sympathiser. has been for a long time.
He may be right about bombing in Syria (although he was very quiet about Russian bombing in Ukraine), stopped clock and all that.

I just don't understand the need for the UK to get involved. Their contribution will be pathetic compared to Vlad and Barry's input. Why not just sit this one out? At least Putin was invited to unleash hell.

Re: Are you a terrorist or sympathiser?

The poll above should be changed (multiple choice):
You in favour of:
1. Bombing ISIS.
2. Bombing Assad.
3. Bombing Anti-Assad "moderates".
4. Bombing Kurds.
6. Bombing Israel.
7. Bombing Infidels.
8. Simply drop bombs and let chance take it's course.
9. Photo bombing.

People talk about the victims of history, how the problems of the region was caused by the US or some other, and not the people of the region themselves. In that sense, the UK has had a lot more involvement in that region that just about anyone else.

Ironically, Cameron is playing to the intervention/victimization narrative, while Corbyn is trying to wash the UK's hands.

Its in vogue for world leaders to make some symbolic gestures that they are doing "something" about ISIS, especially after Hollande is pressing for more support for military intervention. As for what it actually accomplishes, since when have governments and politicians been accountable for their performance?

I think there are many reasons why this will prove to be a terrible idea, not least that it bolster's Russia's play to keep Assad in power.

Why waste time with bombing - nuking is modern trend

But what do I know. The worst atrocity I have ever committed was photo-bombing my friends and family pics, I must admit!

It projects UK power overseas, strengthens our allegiances, and helps because we have tech they don't have.

The leading ideology of the West is "something-ism".
1) Something has happend.
2) The public demands that something is done.
3) So something is done.

1, 2, and 3 do not need to have any relationship with each other.

I agree. Stop pussyfooting around and nuke the whole country.

Sure the bleeding-heart liberals will wail and moan. But really, who cared about Syria before? Nobody. Who will care about them afterwards? Nobody.

After all, we're not going to miss them. What did the Syrians ever do for us?

According to chancellor Merkel, they constitute useful workforce to populate EU.

I wonder how many of us have been to Syria though ...

My view point about the whole thing is quite neutral. Neither would I bomb them nor would I go voluntarily to visit there for holidays.

This is going to call for a serious re-write of the history books.
