As Switzerland is a part of the single market and a good proportion of the Brits here own their presence to the freedom of movement that that brings with it - yes.

Exceptions for those that came before the bilaterals or who would get in on third country rules.
Utter rubbish....this will take years to sort out and I doubt any tit-for-tat expulsions would ever happen....just think of the numbers of Swiss and vast numbers of French and Spanish etc that wok and live in the UK.

Read the relevant chain. Not saying it will happen. Just agreeing with Odile that it should for exiters.

, I just know that the patriotic rhetoric being bandied about will probably sway an ignorant population into making a great big mistake. ..
And there is part of the problem of this whole referendum debate from both sides......to want to leave for whatever reason ( can't see what is wrong with being patriotic myself) is somehow to be part of an ignorant population? The same could be said of remainers blindly accepting the will of the EU against the UK peoples interest.
The debate generally has been poor; vindictive; personal; lacking real information....from BOTH sides

Ok..so just for exiters? And how pray will you know who voted to remain and who voted to leave? Isn't that discrimination against a persons personal views and choice? Should be fun sorting that one out or will you just rely on people putting their hands up and admitting which way they voted......

As it's the last day of campaigning (thank God!) here's Newsbeat's roundup of the more ridiculous moments since the official launch on 15th April.

It's as daft as saying all remain voters should immediately move to an EU country.

The Conservative woman claimed that 80% of new GB laws come from the EU: when told the House of Commons library reported there was 12% in 2015 and this year just 4 new bills from the EU she remained silent. How can people lie like that on national TV? Disgusting!
She actually claimed 80% (I don't actually remember the percentage she said, but I'll take your word) of laws and regulations came from EU.

Apparently the number is around 62%, so if she said 80, that's an exaggeration, but not as massive as it was made out to be. (Though it's still misleading because many of them would still be in place even without the EU (global agreements, codification of existing UK law, etc.)

The reason I noticed the language was that this was covered in one of the BBC More or Less episodes last week.

A summary is here.

Re: The Brexit referendum thread: potential consequences for GB, EU and the Brits in

Thanks for these links, Phil. Really interesting reading. Whatever the outcome tomorrow, one things for sure, the way in which the EU works needs to change. I continue to have huge concerns at how the EU's Ombudsman efforts to investigate the secret trilogies have been blocked.

My fear, if we vote in, which I think is likely, is will reforms happen like everyone seems to think, especially if Cameron came away empty handed from the EU power wrestling negotiations in 2015, and if the Ombudsman continues to be blocked by the very people who have employed her in the first place.. not to mention the surreptitious, back door attempts to change UK law as seen in your links.

I think we all need more objective time to investigate the EU and its machinations, look at how it can be reformed and have agreements made to changes before we commit to being a influential and positive part of the EU. I really would like more time to get away from the Politicians dog's dinner of a debate - the run up to this referendum has been thoroughly depressing

I rate her. I may not agree with her on this, but she's a good speaker and is one of the few politicians that seems to stick to her convictions.
I'm no Tory, but Ruth Davidson was briliant. She's got real conviction and I did like that the sound guys did a poor job of muting her mic when the Leave campaign were speaking. I did hear her come out with "WTF! How can he lie like that?"

Really?

Contentious idea from a friend last night...
"If the vote is to Remain, then those who want to leave the EU can still do that, don't know what the job market is like in Greenland though, or how they'll like being financially dependant on Denmark. "

FFS..... again, it isn't going to happen.

But exiters should live by their own convictions and do it anyway.

Baboon, what should Remainers do should we remain? Should they relocate to an EU country to avoid charges of hypocrisy? You haven't answered.

You'd be left with farmer Boris digging up the entire South East in his JCB to build yurts as part of his housing plan

that has barely anything to do with the EU.
it might be a bit more difficult to move to 25 countries. for all other countries in the world, nothing will change.
