I don't think that's the point they were trying to make, rather than laying the blame at the baker or the veiled woman, they're want to highlight the need for more debate, free speech and open discussion.
They chose the wrong debating points - what is to debate about a baker who chooses what to sell in his bakery ?

There is a major problem of free speech - the term "Islamophobia", for example, should not be used and Ramadan should have been challenged on that.

Re: Double bombing at Brussels airport

I disagree with that pashosh, it definitely applies to some.

What, if not an islamophob, is someone who after the Brussels bombings says to annihilate Moelenbeek. What, if not an extremist who just so happens to sit on the other side of the spectrum, thus essentially the same mindset he claims to be fighting against.

Term islamophobe is used to describe anyone who expresses concerns about Islam and it's political implications, thus lumping the racists (who would like to raze Moelenbeek) with people who are worried about Islam related terrorism or Islam's incompatibility with western values. Ramadan has made a career of this.

Re: Double bombing at Brussels airport

Abrini arrested yesterday in Belgium. Believed to be 'the man in the hat', he was also seen on CCTV with Abdeslam at a petrol station, helping SA flee from France after the attacks in November.
Only problem now is that extradition for both these men will prove more complex, since Belgian authorities are far from done with interrogating them.
And many say that far more should have been done interrogating SA prior to the bombings in Brussels.

So, exactly the same as the term "antisemite"?

An Islamophobe is someone who sees a bearded muslim with a suitcase in an airport and calls the police, an Antisemite is someone who blames Israel for provoking the Muslim into bombing the train.

No, an antisemite is someone who has "prejudice against, hatred of, or discrimination against Jews as an ethnic, religious, or racial group." -wiki

Someone who blames Israel for displacing and stealing the land from 5.5 million Palestinians has just read the facts - and does not neccesarily care what race or religion the inhabitants of the country may be.

Re: Double bombing at Brussels airport

Oh goody. The head of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration was landing in Brussels at the time the attack took place. He says they'll be revamping U.S. security as a result. As if traveling in the U.S. wasn't already enough of a hassle...

5.5 million? Where did you read this fact? Actually there were less than 1 million Palestinians in the area that became Israel.

At that time the area was a British Mandate so you could argue it was the British rulers who were displaced.
It was conquered by the British in 1917 because the Ottoman empire (Turkey) were aligned with the Germans and was never a Palestinian led state

Re: Double bombing at Brussels airport

Only 13% of Arab youths said they could imagine themselves supporting Isis even if it did not use much violence, down from 19% last year, while 50% saw it as the biggest problem facing the Middle East, up from 37% last year, according to the 2016 Arab Youth Survey.

However, concern is mounting across the region as a chronic lack of jobs and opportunities were cited as the principal factor feeding terrorist recruitment. In eight of the 16 countries surveyed, employment problems were a bigger pull factor for Isis than extreme religious views.

These stories invariably turn out to be false or at best exaggerated, usually written by people with some ulterior motive.

Belgium's Interior Minister told this to the Wall Street Journal. I find people who down-play or dismiss these kind of reports as "false" to be having some kind of ulterior motive
During a tough question session by the opposition in Parliament today Jan Jambon was unable to provide any firm evidence of his claim "A significant section of the Muslim community danced when attacks took place"

No police reports; he even refused to name the streets and districts where this dancing was claimed to have taken place.

Quote from Parliament session "I don't have the police report. There was [dancing], but not much..."

So there was dancing, but not much.
Thank goodness for that as I was starting to think there may be an integration problem in Belgium...
