If only there had been fair way in which remove the PM in the last 12 months...

That's your best shot? Honestly...the lady from the black block is taking a picture of the protest... with an iPad. A product from a company that is legendary for its tax avoidance schemes...
I kind of like the palm tree on that picture.

THAT is the big thing.

It will be interesting if someone will manage to get to the bottom of the leak and find who used Shady Co #1 to pay Dictator A in order to get succulent contract to supply XYZ services (or to extract natural resources, etc), or to sell a bunch of hitech weaponry (which typically ending the hands of friends of our common enemies...)

Re: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

My colleague mentioned a small accounting office in his building was raided by a team of investigators early in the morning. The investigators brought along a lock expert who drilled out the lock in order for them to enter and take away a few boxes of papers....
I am sure there is more to come...

Messi and Platini would never dodge taxes, I am 100% sure they won't be on the list.

I would not single them out, their entire industry is full of corruption. On the upside do we also know in related news that a doctor in the UK has been doping players for decades.

If the England squad has been doped is this the best proof ever that doping doesn't work in football.

Re: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

Preet Bharara, the US attorney for Manhattan, said he had “opened a criminal investigation regarding matters to which the Panama Papers are relevant”.

Wall Street financier Benjamin Wey, has been charged with securities fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering for using family members to help him amass ownership of large blocks of stock in companies through so-called “reverse merger” transactions between Chinese companies and US shell companies. He made tens of millions of dollars of illegal profit by manipulating the companies’ stock prices, according to the indictment.

The Panama Papers leak shows that Mossack Fonseca helped set up the offshore companies used in the stock manipulation.

Re: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

I think it slowly gets clear that post box companies are much more useful than for simple tax dodging... so far we have:
- hiding ownership of PEPs
- hiding art looted by the Nazis
- hiding stock market manipulations
...

No more guesswork from Panama Papers Guessing Game

The Panama Papers affair is set to widen, with a huge database of documents relating to more than 200,000 offshore accounts due to go online.

Re: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

Interesting read here

About the so called Magnitsky case involved the theft of US$ 230 million from the Russian Treasury and is one of the largest tax fraud cases in Putin’s Russia.

The crime was uncovered in 2007 by Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer. Magnitsky was arrested by the same police officers whom he accused of covering up the fraud. He was thrown into jail, where he died of mistreatment and inadequate medical care.

There are links to the Panama papers and to Putin's cellist.

Re: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

The president of world chess’s governing body, Ilyumzhinov, is linked to a network of secret offshore companies that have obtained control of the lucrative commercial rights to the game since he took office.

He is Russian and linked to Putin.
