Yes, they will be fine. But whom are you going to listen to?
It'd be the BBC World Service pre-recorded on a loop. Playing Frank Sinatra ad infinitum?

Frank wouldn't bother me that much.

But the idea of a Muzak version of "Pass the Dutchie" played in an endless loop would definitely be enough to make me stay out of the bunker in the first place.

Just imagine, the actual nuclear holocaust were to be contained to a small area, but all of the survivors hum the same tune all of the time.

Re: Nuclear bunkers in Swiss houses

Our house is very Swiss, but it certainly does NOT have a nuclear bunker - and none of the houses around here have one either- thank goodness.

Perhaps the nuclear threat didn't exist in 1587

Re: Nuclear bunkers in Swiss houses

Anyway, bunkers might help surviving the first blast, then what? I never really got the concept, what do you do after two weeks? You go out in the radioactive rain, with no drinkable water, no transportation, no energy...?

...and no Internet!!!!!! GAAAAA!!!!!

It's funny but I had this thought last night lying in my bed...

" What happens if the sirens go off now 4.30 am... 5 mins go past I'm thinking it's a test, 10 mins the family is up and then what do we do... 20 mins still blaring? Get some food in the kitchen and head for our bunker? Large flash of light outside, we still got time to get in the bunker and close it I am guessing?

But then what? I have no idea how the air filter works, we forgot the loo roll and we can't get wifi with the door closed... "

Eventually I got back to sleep, but this post just reminded me
Well this is Switzerland so everything is organized... Is your bunker in operation? If so then it should have rations, air filters, etc. They are inspected every so often to insure they are ready (my father law RIP was an inspector). If your bunker is not active then you have been allocated a place in your neighbors bunker, do you know which one?

Yes but you have been allocated a place somewhere... probably buried in the documents you received on registration. And depending on how active or board you local civil defense are they may call to check if you know .

after a few weeks its going to be pretty much whats its going to be like for the next few hundred years, so go out, surviving the initial blast and fall out is the trick, after that you have a long slow painful death to look forward too

just look at Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Chernobyl they 'recovered' quite quickly after the initial shit storm
