No, you need two feet of three syllables each. "da DUM da da DUM" is only five syllables in total.

Edward Lear must have been a genius.
Hard to get better than

I do not like thee, Doctor Fell,
The reason why - I cannot tell;
But this I know,
and know full well,
I do not like thee, Doctor Fell.

EDIT: Just checked, This wasn't Lear, who was indeed a Genius.

I might have been shocked that Trump won the election, but I am more so shocked at the turn this thread took.

Seriously this must be a flip-flop-firstever for EF

Donald Trump, the orange New Yorker
In Melania, he bagged a corker
Her pictures were rude
Her history lewd
No wonder he wanted to pork 'er

That was kind of the point.

(And Lear's Limericks often repeat the same word for the opening and closing lines.)

In the original limericks, the entire first line was repeated in the last -- as in the unliked Dr Fell poem.

Happy now? I could have chosen a different rhyme to match "ick" but would still have had to change the closing line. Most dirty Limericks have some form of inversion in the final line.

There once was a brash billionaire

There is only one way to deal with Phos...
I think Phos is a very intelligent poster, who likes to provoke perhaps, but not just gratuitously. Although with a different style, Phos is to political commentary what Zuger (another historical favorite poster of mine) was to business commentary. I'm sure we would disagree on many counts, but Phos is someone whom I'd love to have a real life discussion with. It is important to remember that we need all perspectives in a constructive debate, otherwise we are just echoing ourselves and there is no learning.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before in this thread (probably can also be pointed out which post, my mommy brain isn't fully working ), some Trump supporters definitely think he would be a good president, as Hillary would make the relationship with Russia even more unbearable. Not sure how Trump would make any difference in this matter.
Putin is going to play Trump like a fiddle, just as he has the last three presidents.

Especially if the totally unfounded rumours about Trumps businesses borrowing money in Russia should have some tiny seed of truth

There was a daft bitch called S Palin,

A LETTER TO THE US

FROM JOHN CLEESE

To the citizens of the United States of America, in light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today.

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II resumes monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable Theresa May, MP for the 97.8% of you who have, until now, been unaware there's a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America. Congress and the Senate are disbanded. A questionnaire circulated next year will determine whether any of you noticed.
