Re: Palin thread .. no not Michael

OK, since last week I keep on reading about people who think Palin is going to run in 2012. And it's beyond ridiculous. Everyone who has any power in the Republican party hates her now. She'll be an outdated punchline by the middle of next year. Much less 2012.

It's o'va for ya, Sarah, by Golly. *wink"

Palin resigning as Alaska governor

Palin resigning as Alaska governor

Republican may be eyeing a 2012 presidential bid

Jul 03, 2009 04:16 PM
RACHEL D'ORO
Associated Press Writer

WASILLA, Alaska Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said today she is resigning from office at the end of the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla this morning. She said she would step down July 26 but didn't announce her plans.
"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin said in a statement released by her office.
"It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success," she said.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month, Palin spokesman Dave Murrow said.
Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform. But her popularity has waned as she waged in partisan politics following her return from the presidential campaign. Her term would have ended in 2010.

Yeah, nothing like quitting your job with a year and half to go to show that you've got what it takes to be President.

She's just dodging a future scandal, it's quite obvious.

Sarah Palin to take new job as Fox pundit

Fox last night confirmed it had taken Palin on board as a pundit to appear on several of the cable news channel's shows. The deal will give the former vice-presidential candidate an invaluable television platform, beaming her into millions of potential voters' homes.

Is Fox not the SVP news broadcaster of the USA? I find it frightening that Fox is considered "unbiased" news by many Americans.

The biggest danger is she is getting free publicity. The chances of her becoming a presidential candidate is also getting larger. Even if this is a 30-40% chance, it is still a serious risk.

There is no such thing as unbiased media. Everyone is owned by somebody and leaning in one or other direction...

I find it far more weird that is seems normal that a former vice-president candidate and govenor will do some news shows. In most countries this would not be considered a career move, but a pretty desperate attempt for publicity.

I think the chances of her being a candidate are already 99.9%. But I agree, the free publicity may strengthen her candidacy. Let's just hope that being on national television will give Palin the opportunity to show the country that she really IS a joke.

Ah...

Some news broadcasters strive to be unbiased as possible.
Some news broadcasters skewer their news to send an underlying message, such as Fox News. Those sly devils.

Should bin Laden counter this western threat and sign up for Yemeni Channel 5's "A week in focus" giving us all an unbiased view of the life of a "freedom fighter" living in squalor below the average annual income without a roof over his head?

Yes, yes, I know.

For all that though - I like the woman - always have. Read part of her book over the holidays, and found it equal parts dreadful and heartwarming. (OK, *almost* equal parts...)

Doesn't mean I want to see her in the White House, or anywhere near it - but she comes across as a very ordinary, very normal person - and normal people are such a delight when they pop up in politics.

she is a female version of G. Bush...the fact that she is a governor of Alaska let alone to be remotely considered to be the pres. candidate shows that in US anyone even as dumb as Palin or Bush can become presidents...ridiculous...

Well it will certainly give programmes like The Daily Show more ammo, which can only be a good thing.

But lets face it, fox news viewers are only going to vote one way anyway, so her being on it isn't going to make too much difference imo.
