Re: Which "barbaric" customs from other cultures do you find surprisingly OK?

You count donate your body to forensic science. They will then dump your body, either a shallow gravesite, or dumped in water or whatever, all so that they can study what decomposition occurs in diferent circumstances and environments. This helps when they stumble across a body, they can say, "yes, well, according to our studies, a corpse that looks like this must have been exposed for 36 weeks at an average temperature of 17 degrees".
This could all be just an urban myth, but if not, it's how I'm doing it when the time comes.

I find Zoroastrian funeral rituals OK. Basically the body gets carried off by carrion. I don't see why anyone should spend a load of money on burying me. I want my next-of-kin to get a death certificate then dig a hole in the back garden and throw me in. It is so much more natural. I can't get anyone to agree to it.

Is your wish akin to my wanting to be eaten by a polar bear, i-b-deb, you think?

I could go your way but I'd want to be well dead before meeting the bear.

Having had the "pleasure" of disecting corpses... I personally shan't be donating my body to science... Cremate me!

Mind you I do like the buddhists idea of reincarnation... Certainly changes perspectives

But I also want to feel the soft underbelly of the polar bear before it rips off one of my limbs. Guess I'll bite down on rubber dentures or something, or imbibe arsenic or some similar beforehand (hope it doesn't affect the dear bear).

And I wouldn't mind being reborn as a wild horse on a human-uninhabited continental plains or even a louse in Deb's or DB's hair.

(Excuse - methinks I'm half drunk from eating fondue again.)
