Re: Where could one donate for Indonesia earthquake victims?

Thanks guys for the prompt reply!

"Swiss Solidarity is now accepting donations marked “Asia” – either on postal account No. 10-15000-6 (payment slips in all post offices) or online."

If I got this right, then on the red payment slip, should I only write "Asia" somewhere and thats it ?

Does it need to be a Swiss organization?

I prefer Oxfam for these sorts of donations:

This is their PDF from their site. At the end, it says note the fund - and in your case, I think you'd have to write Asia - Earthquake / Indonesia on the reference box.

At the office we have donate through the swiss organization - it is also deductible from swiss taxes if this might be of interest to anyone.

Re: Where could one donate for Indonesia earthquake victims?

The Indonesian Embassy posted a media release on their website :

http://www.indonesia-bern.org/index....d=297&Itemid=1

I don't know why they don't (haven't) open a local account, just like they did for Tsunami victim in 2004.

Re: Where could one donate for Indonesia earthquake victims?

An article from Swissinfo.CH about the aid collected thus far:

Quote:
Swiss raise millions for Asia disaster victims

A nationwide fundraiser to help victims of Asia's recent string of natural disasters has amassed more than SFr6 million ($5.81 million), organisers said on Saturday.

The bulk of the donations, about SFr5 million, came on Friday during a daylong Swiss Solidarity drive. Combined with funds donated in the days before, total contributions should soar to more than SFr6.25 million, officials said.
