Holy Fireball, Batman!

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/04/...ef=igoogle_cnn

The world is coming to an end?!

Well, at least if you believe the theory that all these 'major natural disasters', occurring with increased frequency, mean something about the state of the earth itself...

I am interested to hear the opinions/theories.

Not too sure about the increasing frequency part. I'd guess it's just increasing access to a wider range of news for a wider audience. (ie, The internet makes everything easily accessible)

I like to think that rather than these things occurring with increased frequency, that we simply hear about more of them thanks to t'internet.

But this week has been quite unusual with the China quake, Icelandic volcano and now this presumably meteoric fireball.

... and add to that two other earthquakes and massive landslides in both the northern and southern hemispheres... either the Mayans were onto something, or Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay have *much* bigger budgets than any of us ever imagined.

Edit: Poop it, I type too slow.

Well, even though the internet makes everything easily accessible, I think the magnitude of these last few natural disasters has been incredible. And they have occurred incredibly close together as well. These are both arguments for the proximity of the end of the world... I am still not convinced, however... Nor am I worried about it.

I think it is an interesting story and a once in a lifetime occurrence for those who witnessed it.
