Bummer for Amazon as they approach Christmas holiday sales. Does this deter any of you from shopping?

I will not be avoiding Amazon. I do not agree with self-censorship or corporate censorship. Censorship is for governments, and governments are able to order companies to remove these sorts of materials. The blame for continued sale should placed squarely on the shoulders of the relevant authorities and not on Amazon. It's a slippery slope once Amazon decides to start censoring...

If I boycotted all the companies in the world that had shady, stupid or offensive business practices I would be living naked on a tiny island somewhere.

So it seems like Amazon does take the step to censor but apparently guidelines are not clearly marked.

Of course all civilised people despise exploitation but calling for a boycott of an on line retailer is hardly a rational answer

They have said that while they don't agree with censorship, they have a set of guidelines and the book has now been removed.

Only an idiot would boycott them - which I suppose could be quite worrying news for Amazon considering how many people become one at the slightest hint of the word 'peado'.

FYI: though they have removed the book form listing, it is still on stock-list and is sent out to those who've ordered or pre-ordered.

I'm not suggesting that anyone should boycott anything; this has been the media suggestion and reaction of some customers.

For me it does make for a moral dilemma in that I have children, I don't care for censorship, but on the other hand I am purchasing items from a seller who isn't clearly setting guidelines on where they stand on offensive materials. Yes, yes, I know, I'm not expecting every business owner to put up a sign saying what they do or don't support, but it's still valuable to be able to make the choice knowing what one is indirectly supporting.
