Aussie married to a Swiss Frau

hello,

Came across this English Forum website some months ago whilst looking for websites via search engines - for how long it'll take to drive from England to Switzerland, and helpful tips on making such a journey. That's how I remember this EF website, now registered today.

Worked in Zurich a few years, before moving onto London. Originally from Sydney, Australia. Now married to a Swiss lady. We have three young kids, they're Aussie-Swiss. We'll be in Switzerland next week to celebrate 1st August. Good for our kids to experience these celebrations.

As an aside, this may not come as a big surprise to some of you. That I can only manage to understand some Swiss-German words, but not hold full German conversations. Still, I use sign languages as my choice of languages (I'm deaf) hence no big improvement in my German writing skills.

Re: Aussie married to a Swiss Frau

Hi there Andrew,

I think it's really great that your kids have the chance to experience some of their Swiss heritage,,,, mine are Kiwi-Swiss... I often wish that it was a little easier for them to have more opportunities to 'live' some of their Kiwi roots...

As an aside as well,,, I have often thought that if we all learned signing from birth, then there would be a lot less grief when moving to, or interacting in countries with a different language than that which we grew up with.....

Matter of fact, I had been seeking out ways to actively learn it a while ago, you have just inspired me to get back onto it....

Wish you all a great 1st August....

Ros
