English Speaking Families in St Gallen area?!

Hi there-I am new to the English Forum, though not new to Switzerland! We have been living in St Gallen for six years now, teaching at an international school here. We have a little girl who will be two in a few weeks. We work with lots of English speakers, though no families. We have slowly started to make some Swiss friends but would love to meet some English speaking families in the area. We are actually just outside St Gallen in Wittenbach. Would love to get to know any families in the area?!

Re: English Speaking Families in St Gallen area?!

We're not quite there yet but we're counting the days - less than a month to go now!

Try searching the forum for "Gallen", you'll see quite a few recent posts from people in a similar position to you - for example, from just the last month: "New in St. Gallen", "American in St. Gallen", "Two Canadians for St Gallen" and so on.

I think there are quite a few of us in the area so we should for sure be able to fix up something.

Well, we made it to St Gallen and we're an English speaking family, so if you're still interested in meeting up sometime then get in touch by PM etc. Hope to hear from you!

Hi there!

We're a family in St Gallen also; we've been here nearly 5 years. We have a boy, 3 and girl, nearly 5. There are a few English speaking families in this area, it just takes an eternity to find them! Send me a PM if you fancy meeting up.

Angela

Hi, we are moving to St Gallen from the UK at the end of July. We have 2 girls, one of nearly 4 and one of 13 months. Would love to get to know anyone in the area and would be especially grateful for any tips on places to go with small children to keep them entertained! Thanks, Anna

Hi Anna
We are moving in 3weeks time as part of the Sigma Aldrich move. My husband Aaron has spoken to Rob about the move and it would be great to meet up with you all when you move over in the Summer. Hopefully by then we will have got to know the area abit better and will be able to give you a few pointers!

Re: English Speaking Families in St Gallen area?!

Hi Sabina,
We moved to St Gallen last August from the UK. Really enjoying it and have met a few people. If you're still in the area, it would be good to meet up. We have a 4 year old and a 22 month old. My husband works for an American company here in St Gallen, and we live in Rosenberg. Hopefully hear from you soon.

Hi thedeeks,

Just read your post. Nice to see that you wrote it in 2012!
I am Spanish but living in the UK since 2005. I am moving to St Gallen around Sept. My boyfriend grew up there. We are having a baby in June. It would be great to meet up at one point.

Regards

Hi Sutter

Thanks for replying to my post. I would like to meet up, cabin fever is setting in! Are you in St Gallen any time soon? I don't have a car at the moment and finding public transport difficult as my daughter has hit the terrible two's and invariably has tantrums getting on or off it!
Thanks
Rachael

Hi Racheal,

Where abouts in St Gallen are you living? We are in Rotmonten and I know a few English speaking families with young children around here.
We try and meet up every Wednesday morning and plan to meet at the Park in Rotmonten this week around 10am if your free and the weather is good!

Debs

Hi Rachael,

I know Debs and have 2 girls - the eldest will be 5 in August and the other is just 2. We came here last summer and know it can be hard to get settled! Give us a shout if you fancy meeting up. Anna

Re: English Speaking Families in St Gallen area?!

Hi Debs and Anna

I'd love to meet up. My Son has just started a playgroup Wednesday and Thursday morning but other than that my time is free. I live in the Schoren area. Hopefully getting wheels soon so will find it easier to get around, rather than pushing a double buggy up vertical slopes!
Let me know what suits you.
Rachael
