Hi all.. It is only 2 weeks away until I move from Cork over to Zurich.
So far from these threads I have learned alot about the country..the do's and dont's..etc. It is an incredible forum.
Again a little on myself.. I am a 22 yr old Irish guy ready to begin a new life over here..i am looking forward to the learning the languages here..also i am looking to getting involved in the social and events societies that are over here..i am setting up my profile so will be happy to hear from those in Zurich.
Happy posting
Sure you can get most of what you'll need, just prepare for the price hike. And no Cork white puddin'. Shame. Still, there's plenty of snow, if you're into that kind of <sniff> thing ha, ha, and as for wintersports...
Slán go fóill.
(But enough Oirish. I left Wicklow at 6 and can't remember much more)
Hey! I don't actually live in Zurich, but I do know a great Irish pub that has nothing to envy from those you've got back home... so if you ever get homesick, let me know and I'll fix you up with a pint of cold Guiness, mate!
Zurich has a large bunch of expats who enjoy drinking. From what you've mentioned, the Oliver Twist might be a good place to start as I know many of the single lads I play soccer with use that as their hangout - various expats in their 20s (and 30s) drinking, playing sports and doing other stuff.
NB: I do know some people don't like the Twist; I myself never frequent it that much but I'm old and married
I hope you move went well. www.genevaonline.ch is quite good for meeting up with people to do pretty much anything from dinner parties to skiing to poker nights what ever people can organise basically...i used it a lot in the beginning to meet people, once you meet a few people you get introduced to so many you won't need it anymore
Hope that helps
