En route to Rolle

Hello,
Just registered and thought I'd introduce myself as the site's newest member today. I'm Irish, living in Paris and currently preparing a move to Rolle, Vaud with my husband and 2 young children. Lots and lots to sort out before we move mid-October so you'll be hearing from me again in the other sections with a million questions no doubt.
Delighted to have found such a vibrant english forum!
~Marie

Re: En route to Rolle

Hi Vanessa, Not much advice to share yet I'm afraid (I have more questions than I have answers right now and have a 20 month old and an infant to find a childcare solution for - so far I'm being told that a maman du jour will be challenging given the full-time hours we are looking for so the pressure is on). I will keep you posted as we make progress on getting setup there - accommodation, administration, etc . Maybe we can learn a little from each other..

Re: En route to Rolle

Our original plan was to be based over in Vevey for the school but the school couldn't provide an answer (and still hasn't). As a result we've bought in Cessy Tutegny on the French side and been accepted in College Du Leman (we move down from Paris start of July). We were told La Chataignerie has waiting list 350 and ISL 700! We were also conscious of the fact that an increasing number of companies are transferring and setting up and the property market is strong here despite issues globally. My husband is working in Rolle and it's a nice place - he often takes lunch by the lake. Don't suppose this helps much as we're settling nearer to Geneva.

Hi, I've been here since 2005 and have losts of dealings with the international schools. For those of you moving to Rolle there is going to be a new english curriuclum school at Mont sur Rolle, possibly opening Sept 2008. Good luck

This sounds interesting - please do you know where I could find more info on this school?

Re: En route to Rolle

I don't know a great deal. Only that they are positive about collaborating with us - we are Oak Hill School in Nyon, the first European replication of the Hill Center in the States, catering for children with Dyslexia and/or ADD/ADHD. We run a half day programme and children return to international schools for the rest of the day. Andrew Croft who is to be the Principal has expressed interest in working with us. The little I do know is they are awaiting Commune clearance to create a temporary site in the ifrst instance. Another school in the group is Mont sur Corsier, you may be able to find out more from them.

Hope all goes well and if you land in Rolle we must have a coffee!

Re: En route to Rolle

My children are not yet at school but I've been pleasantly surprised at the options I've had with the reseau de mamans de jour and the local creche. I was under the impression when we were moving here that I wouldn't have much choice when in fact we got a place easily with a great maman de jour and have had offers from the creche as well (there is a second one opening here in Rolle very soon).
If you're interested in any of the details let me know and I'd be happy to send them on. I just got a call from the creche again last week offering me 2 full-time places starting in August so they are obviously not full yet.
All the best, Marie
