Hello,

I moved to Pully, Lausanne last week to start as an au pair for the year.

At the moment the children are at camp so I am pretty much free between 1pm - 6pm and after 9pm Mon - Friday and then free at weekends. I havent had the chance to meet any people and thought I would try here, I start French lessons in September so I should find some people to speak to there, but Septemeber seems quite far away at the moment!

Pully is a pretty place, Laura and very close to the centre of Lausanne too.
I was there this morning at the fruit and vegetable market.
I hope you enjoy your time here and that you quickly make some friends.

Just curious...where will you be taking french lessons....

And if you are interested in French Software that actually works!!!!.....you NEEEED to check out "Fluenz" french....I have been hooked on it....everything just stays in your head.....its a little pricy, but soo worth it (second leading language software right now)

...But, Im also interested in person to person courses....I can't sit behind a computer for too long, I have too much energy .

Welcome all to Lausanne!

There used to be a regular EF night in Lausanne but it fizzled out for various reasons. I'm sure we'll restart it soon when autumn arrives. In the meantime glocals.com (can I mention that here?) could be a better bet for social events in Lausanne at the moment..

If you want to meet other English speaking people, The Great Escape and Etoile Blanche are a good place to start.

The English comedy club has just restarted for the season as well:

Just got here from the UK, living near the centre, starting work at EPFL on Monday, and definitely would be interested in a drink at the weekend (I realise I am a week late to this thread)! Let me know if any plans are confirmed!

I also just moved to Lausanne from Canada and working as an au pair! I've only been here just over a week, and I don't speak very much french. But am starting the french classes very soon. Seems there are tons of people working as au pairs in the area! Any tips on meeting others, or any activities in the area would be very helpful!

I can't seem to find that much in the way of activities (all of the events are in Zurich!) Maybe we should start our own... Hopefully this is not an exclusively au pair group though!

I'd love to go for a drink sometime! By the looks of this thread there are lots of Aupairs in Lausanne, but for me I can't seem to find any at the schools/nursery schools where I pick up the kids! I, too, start language classes at Ecole Migros really soon. I'd love to meet up, keep me informed!

And no Belinda, not an exclusive AuPair group at all!!

Yes lets do it then! When? Theres a cheese and wine event next friday which sounds like a good start...
I'm thinking of starting those Migros lessons too, in Nov, are they supposed to be good? Theyre definitely cheap!
