I was offered a job in Lucerne yesterday, so next week I move to Switzerland! Very excited for the opportunity.

Does anyone have any recommendations for living in Lucerne, I am fairly young, 23, and will be looking for a flat to rent in Lucerne itself. But obviously have a lot of stuff to sort out when I get there. Bank accounts, health insurance etc., so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Let me add my Actually a more effective strategy is to go to the Forum List, select the relevant forum (e.g. Finance/banking/taxation ) and read the stickies. Most forums have several with extraordinarily useful collections of links.

Next I would suggest a few hours browsing through the relevant forums, you will get an excellent feel for the important issues and some approaches to them.

Hi 321 Bob, Welcome to Luzern! I just moved here a few months ago and find myself slowly settling in. Where are you moving from? I have used homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch. Banks - the big ones in town are Credit Suisse and UBS, but you might want to check out Die Post (the Post Office bank) as their monthly fees might be lower provided you keep a minimum balance of about CHF 7500. Anyways, good luck with the move and send me a message if you get up for going for a drink or two once you are in town.
