Hello All. I am an American from Cincinnati Ohio USA who is married to a Swiss that is from the Canton of Zurich. However we are both new to the Basel area and life in Switzerland in general and raising a family here as even my husband hasn't lived in Switzerland for the last 10 years or been around the Swiss life of raising children. We are here now because my husband took a wonderful new job so he could return to Switzerland and the way of life and raising a family that he was used to as a child but I am a city girl with a total different way of life and childhood.
I am a mother of 3 children, Oldest is school age and in the 2nd class of the local Swiss school as my children do speak German/Swiss German and my other two are home with me. I used to work full time and since moving here I am now a full time stay at home mom. I speak no German yet and only understand some Swiss German.
I am very very homesick and miss having great family and friends always around. I would love to learn more about my general area of Therwil including child play dates, babysitters, entertainment for both adults and families, German Language school, and Swiss traditions for I lack the knowledge to do things more the Swiss way since I don't know them yet. i.e it's hard to integrate into the local traditions for the holidays and events that most families and school aged children do when I don't know them yet and don't speak German.

We are from England, have been here for about 17 months now and are enjoying life in Basel. My three boys are in 5th class, 1st class and Spielgruppe in Therwil.

Hi and welcome, I'm a mum of a 6 year old boy, 4 year old girl and a 6month old so have lots of time for coffee and playdates! I'm in Oberwil which is not too far away. I'm also supposed to be the contact for the BCT neighbourhood of Oberwil ad Therwil which arranges meetings etc for the local mums to get together. It's on my to-do list to get that off the ground ASAP! Send me a pm and we can hook up. Also check out the BCT, Basel Children's tRust for things on in Basel. they organise play groups through the week for different ages. There is also a lovely play group in binningen on Tuesday mornings for English mums and kids.
