NYC Designer/Musician new in Zurich says thank you!

Nice to find this forum and hear other people with the same sort of questions. I'm an American who's been living and working in New York City for about 20 years, so relocating to Zurich has been quite the culture shock. It's a nice change... most of the time! My wife is Swiss and we've visited here many times but living here is very different. Hope to communicate with like-minded individuals here and again, nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Züri. As a former NYer myself I would pick Zürich over NY any day, it's so much quieter and safer here... but then again, if excitement and chaos is your thing then you're in the wrong city. Also, I'm sure you won't miss the summer sticky humidity, that never happens here, climates are less extreme. If you do bump into a place in Zürich that sells bagels and/or pastrami sandwiches, let us know please! I miss that soooo much...

Yes, much quieter is nice but I find under the quietness of the people can lie tensions wound up like a top ready to blow! Also being a musician I find the music here hard to deal with, not being in techno. Where are the rock clubs? That all said, we've been exploring many other things that make this city great. The food, omg, the food is awesome. Much more choices in NYC, but the quality of what you find here is awesome! I do miss the chaos sometimes, and the open-ness with and to the people of all nationalities, but that's pretty NYC specific isn't it? Couldn't believe that "Black Sheep" poster thing, whoa! Thanks for the reply and if I find a good bagel or NY style pizza place (Italian pizza's wa-a-a-ay better!) I'll let ya know!

check out the "Zurich Gigs List" it's stickied to the top of the "social" section in the forum, short of wednesday night drinks, it is by far the most important page.

maybe not as good as NY or London, but not bad.

BRMC
November 29
ROHSTOFFLAGER
Zurich, CH

Count me in!
Hey, thanks!!!

In fact, if anyone's into this type of neo-psyche rock, check out my band from NYC here:

http://www.hqmusic.net
or http://www.myspace.com/headquartersband

My solo project here in Zurich is more acoustic dreamy psyche:

I'm playing at La Catrina on October 15th, more info on my page.

Enough with the shameless self-promotion... for now!

Thanks for the "ok" critic, better than "wow", I guess. Nice to hear some opinion from one who's a bit informed. All others, check for yourself...

BRMC kinda turned me off with their last album, but beggar's can't be choosers as they say. I'll def make it out for that one!
