American in Berne for 7 weeks

Hello All!

I stumbled across this site by accident and could not be more pleasantly surprised

A little about myself... My name is Kristin, I am 24 years old, and I currently live in Chicago, IL. I am in college to get my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. The opportunity arose for me to complete my teaching internship overseas, and I gladly accepted! I will be teaching at a school in Bern from January 15th until the end of March.

I am a bit nervous to be making such a big transition and am not sure of what to expect. I hope that I can gain valuable advice from you all I also hope to meet new people and have some memorable experiences while in Berne.
Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading!!!

Regards,

Kristin

Willkommen in der Schweiz! What will you be teaching?

Take this forum with a grain of salt. Lots of useful information, and lots of fun people with opinions.

Re: American in Berne for 7 weeks

Welcome to the Forum.

There is masses of information in the various Stickies at the top of practically every section. Please take the time to check through some of it. When you have specific questions or requests, come back to us.

Folk on here are very helpful. Then of course, there are the moderators. They like things neat and tidy and delete stuff, send PMs and move posts around...

Hope the planning goes well.

Re: American in Berne for 7 weeks

Since everyone will be wondering which evil Moderator asked Grynch to edit something out, 'twas I.

As so often with new members, the first post contained specifics about housing. Information about suitable areas goes into Housing in General and as soon as the request becomes more detailed, it belongs in the Market Place which has eligibility rules.

I know it's not nice of me editing stuff out, it is nearly Christmas 'n' all that. However, the separate sections are to help members find things and all the pesky rules were not put in force to irritate everyone.

So, welcome again and back on-topic.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone!

Oops! I realized my housing faux pas after I hit submit...I understand, since I am a teacher and a stickler for rules as well
