My name's Verena and I'm moving to Biel/Bienne on 30 December. I basically got a job offer and decided to leave London after having spent 3.5 years in this amazing city but I feel like a change, love Switzerland and want to improve my French :-)

My future colleagues seem like a very friendly and out-going bunch of people but I'm pretty sure I will miss speaking English so I would love to join you for any kind of get togethers etc.

Does anyone of you guys live in/around Biel by any chance? It would be great to meet for some drinks, a meal, cinema or stroll around town.

I'm 26 y/o and originally from Germany (Cologne).

Good luck with your move to Biel! It's a great bi-lingual city, perfect for a German speaker to improve French. I don't live in Biel, but I used to work there. Anyway, welcome to the forum!

Biel/Bienne is a lovely town, I spent a week there this past summer. One problem for you, though. While bilingual it is predominantly germanophone, so it will be less easy for you to practice your French than in francophone Switzerland.

On the other hand, conversing in French may be easier than in a mixture of High and Swiss German

So, are you moving to Biel or Bienne?
