Re: Looking for people to socialise with in Basel!
Keep your eye out on the social events - if you want to meet people and like Indian food, then there's the monthly curry. The pub crawls are well worth trying too. Hope to see you both around some time!

Welcome to Basel, CreativeAries! I have also been here for 6 months, having moved over after 8 years in the UK and love it. Agreed that meeting new people does take time and some effort...
Good luck!

Welcome to Basel!
You really should join the curry evening, but if it seems too far from now, I am organizing a rather small Greek dinner event on 14th of January with some friends I met through EF.
If you are interested let me know and I will give you more details
Re: Looking for people to socialise with in Basel!
Hi! I am new to Basel as well. I just arrived last week. As well as the forum, there is Centrepoint - a network of people of all ages who meet up for coffee during the day twice a week and also there is a party at night on January 20th. They are a nice bunch of people who are all very friendly and welcoming to new people. I went there last week and will definitely be getting involved. See you at the curry night!

Re: Looking for people to socialise with in Basel!
I'm planning on going to the Friday morning coffee at Centrepoint this week (I'll only know one person, so I'll be there to chat and meet people!). Here are the details:
Coffee Mornings
Date: Every Friday
Time: 10:30 -12:30
Place: Centrepoint
Who: All are welcome
Would you like to have fun and meet new people from different countries, find friends with similar interests, learn and share in what is happening at Centrepoint, in Basel and its surroundings? There is always a good group of people gathered in Centrepoint on Friday mornings for delightful cup of coffee or tea. Feel free to bring some goodies to share. Everyone is welcome!

Re: Looking for people to socialise with in Basel!
Hi there's a few of us from this site that meet up regularly for beers so feel free to pm me and we can organise something. I've been here about 6 months as well and have been to some EF events. Also thinking of planning a skiing trip, haven't been yet and have no idea of the best resorts or anything like that but keen to try it soon so would be good to get some bodies together for that.
January seems to be a quiet time here and as @Phil_MCR says maybe a bit grim, but Fastnacht is coming up in February which is supposed to be a great event.

Welcome to Basel. I'd socialize but I'm not very social. Preferring instead to just stare at people on the tram.
