Newbie in Bern

Hi everybody,

I'm Alberto, italian almost new to Bern. I have been here few months already but not really staying always in Bern.
I come and go and spend my time in Bern mainly on weekdays (Monday to Friday), with some exceptions like this weekend.

I have been working for an IT Swiss company based in Zurich for 4 years but most of the time I was traveling abroad (Europe, South-America and Middle-East) for longtime. Only recently I'm spending more time in Switzerland. In Bern I'm staying in the center, Zytglogge area.

Due to the fact that I'm not here on weekends and that all my colleagues are commuting daily from other cities I don't really have a social life. I have been out really few times not because I'm not a social guy but mainly because I have been a bit lazy to go out alone.
I'm an IT guy but not a kind of geek. There is not only internet and computer in my life.
I have also other interests:
  • reading (mysteries and thrillers, biographies)
  • cinema
  • exhibitions and museums (have visited and enjoyed some of them in Bern)
  • music
  • dancing, I took also for some time cuban salsa classes but I'm still a beginner
  • food from all over the world
  • wine (moderately, I'm not an heavy drinker)
  • scuba diving and underwater photography

I speak Italian, English, Spanish. I studied French and can speak a little too but I'm a bit rusty. I have been too many years without using it. I don't speak German or Swiss German but I've never found it to be a problem so far.

I don't like football. I definitely can't spend my time in front of TV to watch football matches, I find it boring, sorry.
As I mentioned before I'm not an heavy drinker and, especially with beer, I cannot go over 2 pints. But I do like spending time in bars, chatting with friends, listening some music.

I have seen that in this forum sometimes there are some events and I might join some of them. It would be a good chance to get to know some friends in Bern.
In my profile you can find some information about me and contact information. I'm always on for some activities, fun and laugh.

Regards.
Alberto.

Hi Alberto! I'm not sure if you've checked out the social events caldendar, but some people are meeting up for drinks in Berm this Friday night. Also, if you're free and want to join, I'm meeting up with friends on Saturday afternoon for coffee at the Starbucks down the street from Markthalle at 3. I know, not the best coffee in the world, but a convenient meeting place.

Hi Nlee24,

thanks for answering. I actually have seen the event for tonight but don't know if I really can arrive in time.

I might be free only at 9pm tonight. But I would happy to join you and your friends at Starbucks.

Regards.
Alberto.

Yes, I am planning to go tomorrow too. Let's see if they have some nice tea at the Starbucks. We could discuss Mystery books... I am looking for a new book to read!
