Re: Big Fan of Winter

Hi PurpleFairy, welcome to the forum and to "switzy"! (Love that!!)

Glad you're enjoying Winter and the snow as there's usually lots of it to be had in Switzy. Two questions for you. Did you build a snowman yet and / or have a snowball fight? If not, then why not as these are two of my fun essentialities when the snow's here!

One of my coolest EFer friends is from Indonesia. I hope he will be along at some point to welcome you as well.

Had to google "Channing Tatum" but guess it was kinda worth it!

Have fun on the forum and see you around here.

Re: Big Fan of Winter

Recently just come to CH myself, and look forward to a proper snowy winter...

....I'm still waiting....

It's not been the snowiest of winters - there's been a ton of rain the last two months. There's been some, don't get me wrong - Andermatt I think has had 3 METRE's worth, and there was enough here to go sledging for a while. It's just not staying long with all that rain.

I'm sure the longer residents will admit it's not been the best winter so far, and re-assure us there's plenty months left for a proper snow fest?

Nope. You're clearly just not in the right place

We were just commenting, walking back from the pub half an hour ago, how the banked-up ploughed snow next to the road was higher (at a good 3m) that we've ever seen it before. Even the fields here at 1050m have a good metre of settled snow on them, despite some rain last week. Snow depths on the mountain are approaching record levels already, with more snow to come...

Happy days

Re: Big Fan of Winter

There was actually an article in 20 Minuten a week claiming the snow levels in the mountains are the highest for January since 1961

Re: Big Fan of Winter

I'm also a big fan of winter, not having seen snow in a city before. However, I'm disappointed there hasn't been any in Zurich since I arrived!

I hope to get into the mountains soon, but unfortunately this weekend I have to work. And I need to go and buy some proper clothes... I'd look pretty funny walking through the snow in my suit!

PS: Welcome Rachel. I visited Indonesia before, but it's a bit hot for my liking. Nasi goreng!
