Hi everyone!

I am new to Bern and Switzerland - I moved here in November. I come from Scotland and am 27 and I work in the university chemistry department.

I really enjoy meeting new people and socialising, as well as playing a lot of sport , mainly volleyball and squash, so any suggestions of where I could play these would be much appreciated.

I also really like to spend time eating out and cooking.

Hallo Jen, welcome to the Forum. You need to keep an eye open for social events in Bern. The scene is just beginning to pick up, so you have come at the right time.

You could organise an event yourself, and start a volleyball evening. In which part of Bern are you living?

Hi Jen! Just to let you know, there's an ice skating event in Bern for Saturday at 2pm on the social event calendar. Hope you can make it! If not, no worries. I think that some of us are going to be planning another get together soon.

Anyways next weekend we are planning to go ice skating. Maybe you like that too?
I haven't done it for ages but that makes it more fun I guess

Maybe I should try out Squash someday. Currently, I am only swimming every Wednesday and Sunday.

I live in the centre of Bern, close to the main train station.

I would love to go skating next weekend, but unfortunately I am not around next weekend. Please keep me up to date of any social events like this in the future though as I would definitely like to join!

I am definitely keen to find new people to play at squash. Where are the best courts to play in Bern?

Bern is the place to be for sport activities and good living in my opinion.I lived there for several years and will be returning in summer.Tennis on the clay courts is a wonderful activity as well as biking on the numerous paths and through the city itself.One of the most enjoyable paths in all of Switzerland runs along the Aare all the way to Thun.A walk through Altstadt on a nice summer sunday morning is to die for.I have not been there since the new Barengraben was built,but if its anything like i have heard its an added benefit.The Koniz bad is also a top notch pool in summer.

I usually play at the Migros gymn near Wegmuhlegassli bus stop. It´s the only court i know, so i don´t know if there are better ones

Woaw- you should work at the Tourist office here -nice to read how my city can be looked at.
The new bear-pit looks very good IMO but cost us a lot of monney.

Hello to a fellow Scot. Have you looked up the hash house harriers group? They are a social running/walking group with beer involved. Good fun and really active in Berne.
