| | | I'm Swiss and I miss the UK
Hi all,
I'm a swiss brewer who studied and worked for a few years in Scotland. I've been back here for the last 5 years and only had the opportunity to return to Edinburgh once, for 5 days. I miss this beautiful city, its beers, whiskies and of course the people.
I don't have any English speaking friends over here but I'm hoping I can meet new ones through this forum. I'm always looking for opportunities to practice and improve my English (don't hesitate to correct me if you see irritating mistakes). Of course, I'm happy to speak French or even German with you if that's what you need...
Regards

Greetings to the forum. There are plenty of opportunities to speak English here, the area around Sihl City in ZH is virtually Westminster.

Es schöns Tägli | | | | | Thanks! I love Zürich but I live near Lausanne and I don't often have time to travel because of my job...

Join the club Olrik - I am Neuchateloise but lived in the UK for 40 years- now back in the Neuch Jura.
How about organising a meet up at your brewery for a tasting session - followed my a meal at one of your local hostelleries? Organise an event and I'm sure it will be a roaring success. A + Odile

| | | Re: I'm Swiss and I miss the UK Welcome to the forum. I hear you. I returned back to Switzerland last September after 6 years living and working in London. Some days are still tough as I really miss my UK live even though I am now reunited with my dearest friends (and family too of course). Two trips back to the UK are booked already for later this year, wohoo! | | This user would like to thank purple7374 for this useful post: | |

A + Odile | | | | | All right, thanks for the enthusiasm, how should I go about organizing an event on this forum? Presumably I don't have the required access levels yet. I still need to discover the features and get more familiar with the rules of this place.
I'm also very busy at the moment as we just launched a new product that took off in much greater proportions than expected but I'll post about a meet up soon.

Looks like you are going to be very popular!
Don't let them lead you astray!

Welcome to the forum Mr Brewer! | | | | | Any chance that the "cunning plan" might perhaps involve beer and cheese |

In the meantime, have you got a link or more info about the brewery?

I find it rather strange that the Swiss Romands love living abroad while the Swiss Germans do nothing but complain about how terrible life is outside of 'Switzerland'. I'm speaking from experience of course...

| | | Re: I'm Swiss and I miss the UK | Quote: | | | | | In the meantime, have you got a link or more info about the brewery? | | | | | Sure, brewery is Buse in Villars-Ste-Croix, I didn't want to link or talk specifically about it because I don't want to look like I came here to harvest new customers. If you do decide to google it, please be warned that the website is our very first one and almost abandoned. We're working on a new version and I lack time and energy at the moment to update the old one.
I had a private conversation with grumpygrapefruit about organizing an event at the brewery but right now I need time to go through some private stuff before I can be more active with my company.
In fact, I'm looking for a new flatmate and that's what pushed me to write my first post (I've been a lurker for almost 2 years). After this post, only 2 left before I can post an ad in the Property forum | |
