From Moscow to Zurich

Hi everyone!

My name is Konstantin, my wife and I are going to relocate to Zurich from Moscow in May 2012. Having got a job offer we spent 2 weeks in Switzerland in summer 2011 to make sure if it is worth and fell in love with the country. Of course things look different when you are a tourist but I think we got an idea of swiss life.

Now we are planning our relocation to make it as stressless as possible. This site is real help for us at the moment. Now we are also working hard on our German but it is very basic at the moment.

Hope we will find new friends on this forum.

Konstantin.

Privet Kostya

Welcome to the forum....

I work in Moscow, live in Switzerland so I know you are in for a massive culture shock.....hopefully mostly positive.

One word of advice - freeze and bring as much tvorog as you can - there is nothing here like it in the usual stores (although the few Russian stores have it too)

Привет, Константин, and welcome to the forum!
You were wise to come and visit before making the final decision - it helps a lot! I trust you'll find Zurich a comfortable place to live in and definitely less chaotic than Moscow. Here when a train is late by 2 mins people start looking at their watch and frowning (I admit that I started doing that too ); if only they knew that there's NO fixed schedule in the city of lights, eh?
Good luck with the move!

Thanks for good advice.

My wife is crazy about it, but I prefer Kefir. Not sure if there is some even in Russian shops.

Privet, you can find Kefir in Zurich. There was a thread about it recently saying that it could be found in Zurich (with address). Kefir

You'll also find a lot of Russians in Zurich, as well as some signs in Cyrillic at the IWC/Vacheron Consantine/Patek etc. shops.
