Its Official

Hello everyone,

I am new to the group, but have been in Basel almost a year. I was a Hollywood producer back in California...and getting work has been a toughie. Luckily I have had projects here and there, and my German is getting much better. Seems I will still need a few intensive courses before I can work in German at all, which I need for my longterm stay. I am married, and so essentially struggling to find a regular job. I am now looking for something full time in English or part time to counter the German courses which are so friggin expensive it is shocking.
I do love the outdoor sports and culture and am here to stay!
Finally joined the group, it is great to know there are fellow determined foreigners here.
Wanted to say hello and that I will be about, so hope to connect with some others along the way.

Cheers,
Christi

Re: Its Official

Welcome to the forum!

Love your nickname. Plenty of "stars" to see on this forum that's for sure!

Glad you're settling in well and keeping a positive outlook with your job search. Also, keep at it with the German, that's a definite plus for faster integration.

There are quite a few Basel based EFers, several of whom are pretty active on it. Hopefully, you'll *bump* into some soon.

Keep an eye on the social events calendar and, as you like outdoor sports, the fitness/sports forum for events, in and around Basel or further afield as you see fit. Going along to these is a great way to meet people, have fun and make friends along the way.

Re: Its Official

Welcome aboard. There are ways and means to get some very good german lessons for free. And I dont mean the fraulein/herren route, but that's probably better!

PM me if you need some pointers.

Re: Its Official

I have climbing gear, preferring outdoors in the summertime however.
I am up for hiking for sure!
Do you post your plans on the site? My favorite is Pilates Mtn in the Spring. Its pretty grueling, about 8 hours....and so beautiful, worth all the work!
Anyone do glacier hiking or snowshoeing in the winter?
I would love to do more of that this Feb!!!
