New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hi there,
I moved to Bern about 4 months ago. I would really love to meet some new people for climbing, snowboarding (i am no expert in neither) or just to have a drink and a chat. I go climbing at the Magnet Kletterhalle in Bern about 2-3 times a week and am looking for people who would like to join me.
Snowboarding in the weekend would also be nice...but beware...i am not a big fan of skilifts :P

Ciao,
Cristina

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Welcome to the forum! My husband just went snowboarding this weekend. He's an advanced beginner. Anyway, no ski lifts. Just this... T-bar-esque thing but with a disc. Maybe the next time we go, you can join us. We don't live that far from Bern.

Also, check out the social calendar every once in a while. A group of us get together in Bern periodically.

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hi...thanks for the warm welcome i actually can't ride those t-bar-things (with or without a disk)..they are somewhat of a nightmare for me right now )
I would come if you would go somewhere where there are also chairlifts or gondolas

Let me know where you go next, i would love to join you if it's ok

Thanks for the tip about the social calendar

Best regards,
Cristina

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hey, I would love to go this weekend for a snowboard ride (Saturday or Sunday). I have heard that Adelboden is a pretty good ski area. I am not sure about the weather though for this week-end.

You can see the ski/snowboard areas here:
http://www.bergfex.ch

And a pretty good weather forecast site is:
http://www.meteoblue.com

We can see on Thursday or Friday where the good weather is and maybe we're in luck

I would prefer an area where there are chairlifts for the obvious reason that I can not ride the ski-lifts

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hey Cristina,

I'll be moving to Bern on the 1st of March. I am also a rock climber and love to ski, would be nice to have a fellow female sporty-partner after doing all these things with men all these years!

I used to live in Switzerland before (left for 1 year last year) and used to run a climbing meetup group to go climbing outdoors (in the summer), also via Ferratas (the Rotstock and Kandersteg ones are quite nice), which I expect I'll start again soon.

Most of my gear is still in the UK but as soon as I bring it back I'll give you a ping, my workplace is right across the Magnet Kletterhalle so I could probably swing some gym climbing during lunchtimes or evenings.

At any rate, keep in touch!

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hey Cristina!

I'm super keen to get some time on the slopes before the season ends! and I thoroughly enjoy rock climbing (I haven't had a chance to go for several months now, so might take some time for me to pick it up again :P)
If you wan't someone to go along with, let me know!

Paulina- A friend told me about this club which organise hikes throughout Switzerland on a regular basis, I think there is a group in every canton of Switzerland!
You may wish to look into it, this is their website: http://www.sac-cas.ch

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Hi Alexei,

I want to go to Grindelwald this weekend so if you are interested, you are very welcome to join. So far it's only me and my cousin, but other people may join also.
About rock climbing, I only like to go for one day trips in areas that are very easily accessible. I haven't been yet anywhere in Switzerland, but as soon as the weather allows it I will be there at least a couple of times
I also go climbing at Magnet-Kletterhalle in Bern, so if you are interested in indoor climbing also, let me know

Ciao,
Cristina

Re: New climber/snowboarder in Bern

Grindelwald this weekend would be fantastic! I was actually sledging around there on saturday :O. There's going to be a bit of snow falling in Grindelwald over this week and the weather forecast for the weekend appears to be fine.
Would you two want to meet in Bern's bahnhof? Is it Saturday or Sunday that your planning on heading up and have yah decided on a time??

Yeah that makes perfect sense, why waste energy trying to get to hard to reach climbing areas when there are bound to be plenty of easily accessible ones around :d. I've never been climbing outdoors! so I assumed you were referring to indoor climbing (haha)-but yes, I'd like to check out Magnet-Kletterhalle. :-]

Tschüss

Alexei
