hi welcome to Switzerland & EF.Just one thing lets try & not talk about the footy just yet.I have spent the last 4 months trying to forget that last quarter.Makes a grown(?) man cry into his beer.

CARN THE PIES
Oh dear... I have never screamed so much in my life as when I was watching that game. But yes, no more talk of it!
Are there any pubs or bars around that show AFL here?

There are a bunch of english speaking young people working as interns for a company called Icon Worldwide in Bühler, and they live in Gais at the pizzeria/guesthouse 'Falken'. Maybe you can meet up with them?

OMG - I was an Au Pair in Gais too! That was back in 2007 (and I'm still here by the way, now living in St. Gallen). Maybe we worked for the same family! I also found I was the only native English speaker....PM me if you want to trade Gais Au Pair stories

Re: Aussie girl in Gais/St Gallen

Hello Miss Claire from an Aussie from the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

You've picked a pretty place in die Schweiz to work...you'll be speaking Swiss German in no time.

There are loads of Aussies here in Zurich. My tip: join the Aussies Abroad group to find out when they are holding events that you can join. I know that they meet regularly at the Outback Bar in Zurich. Not the real deal there, but it's a starting point to meet other Aussies.

Have a fab time.
